CYHY flooded forest

Recommended Posts

Hiya,

I was flying from CYHY Hay River in northern Canada (one of the Global freeware airports), and found some strange effects.  Trees in the river, forest offshore, some squared black water areas.

I have P3D 2.5 with Global + Vector + Pilot's 2010 FTX mesh.

I've no idea if this is to do with the airport, Global/Vector, or just my setup.

CYHY isn't in the AEC config, and I have the following files:

CYHYfiles.th.jpg

Any suggestions?

Good morning Jabble

Everything's OK here except that the city is ridiculously larger than the real one.

A search in my computer shows a fifth file than you do not seem to have, a CYHY.txt which is not kind of a readme, more a collection of coordinates liek

Hi Dominique,

I have that one too, in my NavDataPro\NavData dir.  I'm not sure where that came from - I think it was bundled with an AS plane, but I'm pretty sure that's just nav data (approaches) for a GPS, so it won't affect the scenery.

Thanks, that establishes the problem is with my setup!  Now to solve it...

Hi Voyager,

That's already off, thanks!

So far, if I deactivate the 3 freeware files it returns to normal except for the water squares.  My hunch is that the water squares are primary symptom of the problem, simply exacerbated by the freeware.

I've tried unticking non-Orbx sceneries to reveal any incompatibility, but so far nothing.  There are no CYHY files in MT6, so that's not it either.

Hi Voyager,

So far, if I deactivate the 3 freeware files it returns to normal except for the water squares. You mean you still have houses in water, I don't see water squares in your pics ?  My hunch is that the water squares are primary symptom of the problem, simply exacerbated by the freeware. Did you try to deactivate the Vector ABP too ?

You sure you didn't download long ago a freeware Hay river, there are a couple of them available with bush VA ?

and deactivating the ABP ?

Here in my "end" all is well. As you have other freeware installed on, all thing can be a bit mixed.

However, just talking about only ".bgl" files, so that they look normal in your "end", you need to have these files:

C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\ORBX\FTX_GLOBAL\FTX_FTXG_AIRPORTS\Scenery\ADE_FTX_FTXG_CYHY.BGL

C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\ORBX\FTX_GLOBAL\FTX_FTXG_AIRPORTS\Scenery\ADE_FTX_FTXG_CYHY_CVX.bgl

C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\ORBX\FTX_GLOBAL\FTX_FTXG_AIRPORTS\Scenery\FTX_FTXG_CYHY_objects.bgl

C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\ORBX\FTX_VECTOR\FTX_VECTOR_APT\scenery\ABP_CYHY.bgl

You can temporarily disable "others" .bgl files that are not the ones to discover the culprit. If search, be careful.

However, there are some files with "_water_" in its name that influencing the bodies of water of sceneries. These files and their local influences only is known by the Orbx staff.

Cheers,

Nope, never used a freeware version.  I tried deactivating the ABP, but it made no difference.  Since my P3D 2.5 reinstall, my only freeware is Orbx so far - not even RTMM or OZx yet.

I thought it might have been a payware scenery from another vendor (remember the Antarctica flatten that flattened NZSI?  ??? ), but so far unticking them has made no difference.  It could be unticking isn't enough - I'm not sure what that deactivates and what remains active.

Edit: One difference I have is the Pilot's 2010 FTX mesh, not Ultimate, but I can't imagine that's a factor.

Edit2: Thanks Voyager, but I've already deactivated the 3 CYHY bgl files - that fixes the trees-&-houses-in-water but leaves the water squares; deactivating the ABP makes no difference.

What do you mean by water squares, I don't see any on your pics ? On the pic #2 you shouldn't have trees and houses but only water as shown on pic #5. What is disconcerting is the wrong urban textures called over this whole area.

BTW, some aircraft bring mini-sceneries with them that you asily forget. Aerosoft does that for instance.

Ah, the water squares are in the river, east of the airfield. L with freeware active, R disabled.

Yeah, I'm very aware of these "extras"! I unticked them as soon as I installed, e.g  DHC-2 pier.

I also installed several sceneries recently - if I may mention here (mods, zap this if I can't) - AS-MadeiraX, AS-SeychellesX, AS-AntarcticaX, and a few Pacsim Pacific ones (but not PNG).  I've tried unticking them all but no difference, so a one-by-one uninstall is next. I had most of them them working in FSX, but it's the first time I tried them with P3D or Global.  Madeira & Antarctica are updated and meant to be P3D-compatible, I checked Global compatibility too, and I used the EMT for the others.  Until this problem, all seems well except a few Madeira elevation niggles.

However, Global is my priority, so I'll drop any that aren't compatible.

oh, I see now (sorry, poor eyesight for contrast). I would be surprised if any of your addons is guilty of water meddling ;) !  It looks familar, like FSX (I know it is P3D) being overloaded and having difficulties to load textures in the sea...

Is it related  to the houses/ trees invasion ? A shot in the dark if I may. Do you have this issue elsewhere ? For the last few days, I've had very minor issues with my rig because it is so hot outside (35°). To play with 3D games I need to start the air conditionning in my computer room to cool the graphic card.

I don't think it's overloading - the difference when I disable the freeware is too precise and consistent.  I don't see it elsewhere.  I had that other problem with PHOG elevations 8) , but installing the current Vector fixed that.  It's cooler here than last week and my PC temps are OK, so that can't be it.

It's only 1-2 weeks since I installed the other sceneries, and I suspect it's not a coincidence.
