  1. Hello RobC

well, in the meantime we've had a thunder and lightening show after show after show outside, donner und blitzen, AND I've had a brilliant time, indoors, at the PC and  Lockheed Martin P3D v5 AND the great-value-for-money Personal P3D v6.

All thanks to your generosity of action. On the forums, I have been asking "How .....?" for a few days and no-one has answered. You might modestly say, Rob, "it was nought" but your advice has literally given me back a world class flight simulator that, until an hour or so ago, I thought it all had gone down the plughole, after several years of assembling.

So far, the A2A planes: Comanche, Bonanza, T6 Texan, C182, Spitfire (of course), Cherokee AND Accu-Feel are working perfectly and look great with P3D v6. I've just done a '£50 cup-of-coffee-circuit' around Warwickshire.

So now, it's just all my Orbx stuff to get onto P3D v6. C'mon Orbx! You can do it! "Go on, go on, go on, go on  ..........   go on!" (google/youtube/'Father Ted')

Rob, please tell everyone to treat you to a fantastic day.

    Many thanks

  2. Nick and All,

i didn't really need to label these v5 and v6.

If I asked you "Which look better and more realistic?" then I bet you would correctly allocate them to v5 and v6. (In fact I'm packing my bag and shoving on trainers, ready to get to William Hill)

Now you can SEE why I'm so chuffed to have bought the very inexpensive Personal P3D v6.

So please Orbx, please A2A. Catch up! There may be sales 'n profits here. For integrity sake, I'd fork out more of my pension on YOUR fabulous Orbx scenery and YOUR amazing A2A planes for a start (rather than trick 3rd party add-on companies)

    Rod

very pleased to have both P3D v5.4 AND v6

  3. Hello Nick

firstly,  guru Nick, many thanks for all the 'spot-on' support you've given me over several years.

Secondly, as you know, I'm a nit and don't know how to take a "shot". (Anyway, I've given up on shots and just stick to a few pints of ale, excellent gluten free from St Peters brewery).

Not to completely wriggle out of your request, might I firstly suggest you have a peep at the A2A Community forum cos I posted my P3Dv5 against P3Dv6 comparison at 12:49 (English time). It's based on what I actually saw, rather than being simply biased or annoyingly opinionated.

My suggestion to you Nick and fellows is to then replicate my 'study', and see what you think with your own eyes. Then we'll know that my surprising experience wasn't specifically limited to my PC and P3D program set-up, so we can generalise the findings.

  4. Hi Team and Pilots from destinations of our wonderful, vulnerable planet

and what's more, P3D v6 is superior to excellent v5, immediately apparent (literally) according to my 15 mins on each and flying gorgeous Alabeo Golden Eagle C421.

I've been asked to make a comparison and, "senior moment",  just remembered that request came from the A2A Community forum.

So, now to change channel ...................

  5. Hi John and Wain

the man from Del Monte 'ee say "YES". It bloomin' works. C:/program Files/Lockheed Martin/  etc and so I've got 2 folders one for P3D v5 AND t'other for v6.

Wow! I'm one bloomin' happy boy. "It's Christmas!"

Changed things so each version internally caps the frame rate at 32, instead on nvidia outside the programs.

Cant install my UK2000. Obviously i cant install A2A planes OR any Orbx scenery. Ideally i dont want "back door workarounds" just in case it screws stuff up.

Carenado DA62 does install but the neither the lights nor navigation work. The great surprise is that Carenado's C421 Golden Eagle works perfectly and a genuine pleasure.

Thank you John and Wain for being outstanding, responsive and supportive.

I raise my glass to you both

  6. Hi Folks

this post is relevant to Orbx cos i want to keep using my Orbx world and regions and airports AND i want to maintain my links with you Orbx experts and "you lot" out there and hopefully any LM P3D staff.

Please dont let this post plummet into the mire of MSFS versus P3D. That angst is so wasteful.

My plan is to keep P3D V5.4 + Orbx + A2A.   Why? Cos I find this sensational and highly reliable.

Like hundreds/thousands of others, I impulsively, kid in a sweet shop, couldn't resist buying Personal license P3Dv6.

I've paid money, trust LM and got PVD6, so why not use it, rather than deep freeze it. I accept that I cannot install Orbx on P3D V6 (and A2A have not got the resources to adapt its fleet).

So my question here is "is it feasible to install and run P3Dv5 and P3Dv6 on the same Windows C : drive (which is an SSD of 2TB)?"

I thought it would be prudent to ask you all first, before trying it out. I wouldn't want to wreck my current installation.

    Many thanks

  7. Absolutely free? Totally free, man? And, not even a few tens out of me pension, and into the wind. No schadenfreude. No sarky.

Yup, it hurts! Yup, it's all been humiliating and a bit of a head banger!

Back to enjoying the sensation of P3D 5.4! With ace A2A and wonderful Orbx all over the place. And a real appreciation to Orbx for weather theme 7. It came with the Germany scenery but I think it fits really well with the look of British isles skies.

Still on a deadly serious note, the light is far to dubious for cricket. I think we'll have to declare a null and void result. I'm sure Orbx would agree.

Glad to say that I've picked myself up, dusted myself off and started all over again.

Lovin' the P3D+Orbx+A2A. And I hope you too, Rodger and all.

  8. Many thanks John for your attention to my pickle.

But even now I'm guessing, reading between the lines and inventing actions.

So my guess is that you are suggesting that I reinstall P3D V5.4 (currently completely uninstaleed/deleted) and then use Orbx Central to reinstall all the Orbx scenery (global, regional and airports). (You see I'm guessing that I've already deleted all of this scenery.)

Then I'm guessing that you are suggesting that I then also Install P3D v6. Then i might be able to use the Scenery Library function in P3D v6 to point to the scenery in v5. At this stage, I'm afraid to admit that i dont know where i will find that. John could you also help me and tell me where i point to all the scenery files.

Please let me know if I've guessed right. I really appreciate being corrected and told simply what steps to take.

  9. Hi John, Rob and All

thanks for getting back so quick; now I don't feel so abandoned in my coracle out in the middle of the ill-tempered North Sea.

Still even simpler please. Not deliberately wanting to be a pain.

In your message above, are you advising me: to re-install P3D V5.4 AND re-install all the Orbx and A2A addons AND abandon ship by uninstalling/discarding my newly bought P3D v6; OR are you advising me to try again to re-install Orbx and A2A into P3D v6 (leaving P3D V5.4 already fully uninstalled)

    Thank you, again

    Rod

PS playfully, and why do people head bang? Cos it feels great when you stop, of course)

  10. Dear Rob and All

I have a favour to ask:

So please tell me in simple step by step wording how this twit, me, can "move" i.e. install all my Orbx scenery, working beautifully and atmospherically (previous P3D v5.4) into the P3D v6.

    Many thanks.

    Rod

PS "John Heaton, I feel your pain ....... the one and only plus was that several beers went down the hatch in the early hours of this morning vainly trying to figure out how to dig myself out this hole and impasse

  11. Hi Pilots & Orbx Team

just landed at fantastic Orbx Dundee with full-of-character A2A T6-Texan, from Orbx Edinburgh on EU Scotland (fair weather).

THANK YOU, THANK YOU folks. This sounded, felt and looked amazing, LIKE I WAS REALLY THERE; this old classic dicing with death as I landed that old swaying classic! Really beautiful scenery; amazed at what I could see around me.

When you feel ready and caught up and reset, I'm at the starting grid for even more of your fabulous British Isles scenery.

Keep up the great work. No grumbles here! With superb P3Dv5.2(hf1).

  12. Hi Jeff,

delighted and just landed Exeter EGTE, and I just wanted to add that I'm getting this excellent P3D5.2 experience without the fuss of 3rd party addons (except Orbx and A2A hangar, of course on both counts).

    • I have a joystick for controller (Logitech x52pro hotas)
    • I don't have "Active Sky"; instead use P3D and Orbx weather themes to roughly match what I see out my window
    • I definitely don't need FSUIPC
    • no 3rd party onerous navigation software; instead use the default GNS ( installed with A2A planes)

As Dean says, I have EA turned ON, and many of the settings sliders are high-ish; FPS capped with nVidia to 32; and that's what I got consistently throughout my Alderney to Exeter flight.

Here's to "keepin' it simple"; it works for me!

Rod (EGBB; real-world thunder 'n lightnin' just set car alarm off, must be close)

  13. Thank you 'Orbx Flyer' (and latterly Dean S.) for your justifiable enthusiasm and completely credible experience to explain things in such detail. People like you will support and keep P3D (5.2) THE PLACE TO KEEP GOING TO; AND FOR THE LONG TERM.

You are totally right. P3D 5.2 (hf1) is bloomin' wonderful and exciting. REAL FLYING.

I've just been flying awesomely realistic A2A Cherokee from Shoreham EGKA around Channel Islands (EGJJ, EGJB,EGJA).

    Fabulous!

Like you, Dean and Orbx Flyer, again and again, I am blown away by this ace professional flight simulator (and "populated" by world class Orbx, numero uno!)

  14. Hi Ken, thanks for asking

it's definitely P3Dv5.2(hf1) for me, rather than an alternative gaming company.  P3D looks great, THANKS TO Orbx, no blips except a shadier cockpit before start. It performs superb; consistently around 30fps (capped in NVidia settings), sliders at the "high end".

Except at airports, obviously I don't need photoreal ground when I'm 3,000-8,000ft aloft.

Rather than short-term thinking, Lockheed Martin is a perfectionist, dedicated and stable aerospace company; once bitten, twice shy with MS. I'm not a multiple fantasy-game player and don't have X-Box type thingy's. I like my software fully installed in PC and under my control rather than streamed from an invisible multi-purpose ulterior profit-motivated source, potentially compromised by profit and so potentially corruptible.

Gold standard A2A planes work stunningly with P3D. Most of my GA flying is all around the British Isles and so I look for and forward to UK Scenery.

At the end of the day, "chacun a son gout" "variety is the spice of life".

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TEAM-Orbx; SPECIAL THANKS TO NICK C. AND DOUG S. I've always got my credit card at the ready, especially for P3D British isles scenery.

  15. Thanks Bullfox. I totally agree with you. P3D is so stunning, realistic 'n immersive; especially with the best quality GA. There's absolutely no need for me to consider the gaming company alternative.

And Wayne, sorry to see yer having troubles with Aerosoft &/or Activesky, maybe.

Me, I've got rid of Flight 1 GTN (cos it's out of production) and simply using A2A's default G400; reliable and sufficient!

So I'm thinkin' to try and minimise 3rd parties (except Orbx, OF COURSE!). Yesterday I was tempted to use 3rd party UK 2000 airports but when I realised you've got to first delete scenery from P3D/Orbx I chickened out; "the grass is NOT greener on .........."

    Good luck folks!

Rod EGBB (and praying for luck and inspiration re tonight's footy)
