[More airports for P3D would be nice]

I am in the group that cannot use MSFS for reasons that are not important here.  That said, there are those that do not want to switch and stay with XPlane or P3D 5.  I am on P3D 6, and it was very easy to migrate to v6.   First, I do want to thank Orbx for everything with P3D and I think I have most of your products.  Orbx really gave P3D a very nice boost to it.  I only use airports now from Orbx because they still add a lot to P3D v6.1.   I know Orbx has shifted to MSFS and I understand, however, it would be nice to see a new airport from time to time for P3D.  There are a ton of them for MSFS, so just thought it would be nice to acquire more in P3D.   If not, I enjoy the ones I have and seen no problems with any of them.

[Are updates for XPlane 12 coming]

I tried to install TE Southern California for XP 11 to 12.  The installation worked and the scenery looks great, but all the airport buildings are gone.  There are not many options for XP 12 so I wasn't sure if Orbx gave up on XPlane as well, although I did see Spain.  (which is why I asked)

I want to see that as well.  The way Orbx Central works it lists the addons that work with the selected version of P3D(6 in this case).  Some airports have some really minor issues.  Take the case KGPI where some of the taxi markers are in the middle of the taxiway.  This is really nothing expect I can see end users sending a support ticket for that.  P3D 6 really fixed a lot of little things that did not work in P3D 5.4.  I would love to see Orbx team add P3D 6 support even whatever they feel are good as is and I think that is a lot that is working in 5.   The best work around is to install to a Orbx Library, then just copy from the addon.cfg for v5 into the addon.cfg for v6.  It actually makes the scenery.cfg file a lot cleaner.

Make sure that the terrain.cfg is copied over to p3d 6 and that fixes it

I did get this fixed with Alaska.  I moved everything over to the Orbx Library expect the Base and Orbx Libraries themselves.  I went back and migrated these, but the Orbx Libraries would not migrate.  I clicked on it and the option came up to pick the library, but it would not migrate.  So I uninstalled is and reinstalled it to my Orbx library, and not everything is good with the Southern Package.   Moving from P3D 5 to 6 I think your best option is to migrate everything to the library and then the add the discovery Path to the addon.cfg file.

I fixed my mistake with Alaska.  I migrate everything over expect the Orbx libraries and base to the Orbx Base.   When I did the ocean water in the Alaska Mountains got fixed.  Sometimes I feel so dumb.  Everything is working great, and I am on P3D 6 100% now.  I have my aircrafts working (Carenado, PMDG) and all my addons are working.  I just had to do most of it manually.   ChasePlane Pro was release so that was the icing on the cake.

If there is any time for Orbx to patch anything for P3D 6 I know that Southern Alaska is an issue.  It does seem to be in the Custom folder with some of those files.  

Basically the water comes into the mountains along the shore.  I know Orbx is busy with MSFS so hopefully sometime in the future.  Alaska looks different but I can live with it since it only some places by the shorelines.  If it helps I think it is only where the default scenery has a forest alone the slopes

There are minor issues when the Regional Orbx has water next to steep mountains.  I found how to fix the area east of Anchorage in the bay (this file when disabled fixes Anchorage it: !500_FTX_SAK_LC_0810 in the Custom folder)  But Junea has the same problem with another BGL file, have not looked.  The FTX_NA_SAK08_CUSTOM could be not included, but that has the great overall look to the scenery.  So I will just live with water in the mountains because Alaska looks much better with the Southern Alaska add on.  

 

[Orbx Central for P3Dv6?]

I got another plane working. It is the Milviz KA 350i which is a really nice King Air and very detailed on how to fly it. It needs a lot of graphics and since I updated my PC wanted to try it. Here are photos with True Each Southern Calif.   True Earth really worked out well in P3D 6, I may have stayed with 5 if I did not get these packages working.  They are the best out there IMHO

I hope they will continue with P3D 6.  They will have to verify everything is ok in 6.  The Orbx scenery is still much better than the default and I have everything pretty much working with a few issues I have seen.  Small areas of water on the mountains south shore near Anchorage as a example.

I am on p3D 6 now and everything is working from what I see.  If you use the Orbx library way then just adding the discovery path in addon.cfg and that is it.  I copied the terrain.cfg file from program data p3d 5 to p3d6.  If that is not done the shorelines are screwed up.  
I installed many airports and all the regional, land class and true earth and it does look better. 
 

if you installed to default p3d 5 then you can migrate the scenery to Orbx library. Otherwise you need to copy the Orbx folder in p3d 5 and update the scenery.cfg. Leaving the Orbx files in p3d 5 is ok, but the full path needs to be put in the scenery.cfg

 

p3d 6 fixed a lot of little things that are in 5.4.  Scenery pauses was one I saw that doesn’t happen in 6. 
 

I don’t know if just updating Orbx central to see p3d 6 and install from Orbx central. This is because I think Orbx needs to verify that the scenery is compatible with p3d 6 like they did with 5. Since they are focused on Msfs 2020, don’t see that happening.  In summary using the Orbx library is the easiest way to use Orbx in p3d 6

Looks like the CVX folder is the one that does not work.  I also am not using the mesh folder even though it does not effect the P3D shorelines

I installed Southern California true earth and noticed that the area off the shore had extended land.  Should I not include the mesh folder in p3d 6.

I would recommend if possible upgrading to the m.2 ssd 4th generation.  The load times massively increase for me.  I have almost all of Orbx products and only takes about 30

seconds to load everything.  The cost of these really came down

I am staying with P3D 5.4 even though I have MSFS on a slower SSD drive. I have

all the True Earth and would love to see more states added.  It is amazing photo scenery out there.  If that cannot happen then seeing more regions like central USA and north and south eastern USA.  Land classes are ok but there is a lot more in the regions.  There are still a ton of users out there on P3D and I am getting nee and updated scenery addons from others even the as of yesterday.

I am assuming the answer is no because 5.3 fixed everything.  I am glad that MSFS 2020 took a long time to come out so P3D users could get everything they needed.

I reinstalled P3D 5.3 HF 2 and all the Orbx products expect Vectors.   Does vectors have any effect with P3D 5.3  such as  better shorelines and rivers.   Someone in the past that is one thing vectors had in it, but I was not really sure.

I see updates in central from time to time, not sure what they fix but I update them.   I use ChasePlane and for some reason I have to log in and verify the files because it has a error.  Nothing has changed, it just does that from time to time.  IF new products come out for P3D I plan to get them.  

[P3DV5 keeps freezing after base install]

What version of P3D 5 are you using.  5.3 HF 2 seems to be ok for me.   Did you install them in a library or the default P3D 5

[Highlighting Scenery on sale]

Are usually check on the website when they have some kind of sale going on. I also get them by email sometimes. When they do go on sale I usually pick up several. Also the homepage shows specials going on mostly Microsoft but prepare 3-D is in there as well. I did purchase the one that was on special right now so I’m glad they’re doing that with prepare 3-D

[Orbx Mesh is what MSFS 2020 needs]

The Mesh that Orbx has created much better scenery where MSFS uses a default.   Australia could use this like NZ.  The Orbx Mesh in P3D in my opinion is better.  I use MSFS in Alaska because of the mesh.  Thanks for what you do.
