    Hi Smudger,

     

    thanks for the link, hadn’t seen that one. I had already opened the HDD to see if the heads were stuck, they weren’t. May now have a look at that USB option they mention.

     

    Nick, thanks too for your input. I suspect you are right about needing specialized hardware.  My OS was on a different SSD but thanks to parts of certain programs being saved in C:\ this is now a problem. I installed P3D v5.2 and tried to run it but although this is a fresh install it still recognized the old scenery.CFC on C and threw me up over 400 errors - so I just used the task manager to quit.

     

    I don’t know if the command to delete generated files will help me out here, or if my best bet is to bite the bullet and re-install Windows 10.

    Hi Gents,

     

    This week I unfortunately suffered a HDD failure which is causing me a bit of grief.

     

    A couple of years ago, due to space running short on my C:\ drive, I relocated the documents, downloads etc folders to my D:\drive this is the drive that has now died on me. As a consequence I have now lost everything that was stored in these user folders.

     

    The drive is completely dead, have tried everything I have read on the net, but I have not been able to find any way to recover these folders. Does anybody know if this is at all possible?

    Stone me,

     

    I was in so much of a rush last night that I just posted the screenies then went to bed - I didn't even notice my scenery did not look right. It certainly does look like stock scenery to me.

    Freeware airport requests

    So Jack what you are saying is that if you live in the great country of Australia you may as well forget posting any requests. You may not realise it but the OZx team disbanded a couple of years ago. A lot of the airstrips that OZx did were bush strips that were not included in FSX.

     

    Australia has many airports/airstrips that could do with enhancement. Some that come to mind are: YMAY, YSWG, YMDG, YBHI, YTEM and Mildura just to mention a few. YTEM would be great as it is the home of the largest collection of warbirds in Australia with all of them flying. Also Temora was a major training airport during WWII so it has a long history. YBHI was on the ORBX road map at one time but seems to have died a natural death.

    I was not making any geopolitical statement, simply pointing out that Todd said in his opening post that they would not be doing any airports for regions.

    I imagine that this is a question of whether or not the freeware airports that Niel, Todd ,Larry, Sylvain etc are doing blend in with both FTX Global and a full blown ORBX region, but I don't know enough about scenery design to say if that is correct or not.

    Forum Name Holy Cheese - picked this name up while flying with Livewire VA. We used to do a Friday night online flight, and a French Canadian gave me this name which has stuck ever since.

    From Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but now live in Heiden, Switzerland since the last 15 years. Have moved around a bit over the years, having also lived in Dubai, Kuwait and Denmark. Switzerland is now home, though. Work for a company which manufactures medical compression stockings for treating varicose veins etc, and you guys down in Oz keep us nice and busy because you are all very conscientious about wearing your flight socks to prevent DVT  ;D I'm the export manager responsible for Asia, Australia and NZ.

    Been simming since the days of Commodore 64.
