Hi Don,
I'm pretty sure it's a conflict issue. When you extract the files, there's a README called NZMF_ReadMe.pdf. Open this, and it gives you instructions on how to disable the conflicting Microsoft airports.

John

I typed "Tamworth" into the search facility, and look what I found! https://flightsim.to/file/54787/tamworth-airport-nsw-ystw

I wonder what this announcement has meant to the makers of addons? Is it stop all current development until they know what's required, or have they already received advice regarding compatibility?
If it looks good, I'll probably buy it, but we all know that we don't just stop at buying the sim. I reckon I could have bought a business-class airfare from Australia to Europe and return for all the scenery and aircraft I've bought. Well, maybe not, but you know what I'm saying!
Will there be a discount for owners of MSFS 2020?
Oh well, let the information drip feed commence!

Does she read the forums perchance? If so, you might be "going on holiday"!

If I were a bit closer, and not in Maitland, NSW, I'd come and have a look for you. I'm almost certain a fellow simmer would be able to sort this out, but at the actual PC, not remotely.

Hi John,
I have the two RAAF Caribous that you have. They installed quite easily. I extract them to my desktop, which creates tons of unwanted pics, etc, then just drag the folders across into the Community folder, which I have opened and waiting. (I have a shortcut to it in my Flight Sims folder on my desktop)
I'm not trying to sound smug, but if you're having trouble, then the problem might lie further afield than just a couple of repaints.

Hi Don,
I know how much you love Win 10, but really, I don't think it's the culprit. I have used every version of Windows since 3.1, and for me, Win 11 is by far the best. My suspicion is that you've got something nasty lurking somewhere, and as many people have suggested, it is most likely in your Community folder. Might I suggest removing your community folder one more time, keeping it safe somewhere, let MSFS create a new one, and then add the contents piece by piece, opening the sim and checking for crashes, adding another piece, checking, etc. I know this is time-consuming, but it's worked for me. There are, of course, files which can go straight in, such as many,if not all payware aircraft, and scenery. Most often I have found the problem to be mods clashing with the latest MSFS update.
I'm sure many people might disagree with this advice, but it's my two bob's worth, and it's worked for me.

John, when you said Brabazon, you must have indeed been in exalted company, as it only made a few flights in the early 50s before the project was cancelled. You don't by any chance mean Britannia?

One element that I really like of the Duxford one is all the old commercial aircraft in the exhibit area
At some time in the early 60s and 70s - I flew in all of them - sometimes once - the Brabazon - and often
the Viscount from Manchester to Glasgow.
The company that I worked for - did the engine fire protection in all of them

I saw somewhere that as well as New Zealand in the update there'll be a DHC-4 Caribou.

"Something I thought of overnight. You said you have MSFS installed on another computer? My guess is that you need to uninstall that one, I doubt that Microsoft allows two copies to be installed concurrently. "
Good thought. I've been following this silently, so far, and have to agree with the majority of the opinions. Windows 11 is an excellent, stable O/S. Even though I have the Steam edition of MSFS, I cannot envisage that any benefit could be gained by dumping one version and switching to the other. A few months ago I had massive problems with MSFS. It was looping on an update, and therefore was unplayable. I came to the conclusion that was something corrupt in Windows, so I uninstalled MSFS, and did a fresh Windows install, then reinstalled MSFS. It was arduous, and a real pain, but the sim is now running flawlessly.
I've also had CTDs caused by problems in the Community Folder. As people have said, removing/renaming it almost always brings the sim back. Somehow, I don't think Don's problem is with the Community Folder.
I know that's not been much, or any, help, but many of us are watching this, and thinking of ways to assist.

Manfred Jahn has asked that people do not download and convert his C-47, as it has been done totally without his permission. And, the Aeroplane Heaven DC-3 is definitely coming and will be free, as part of the November 40th Anniversary Update.
-
I've just bitten the bullet, and done a reinstall. Like many, I had constant CTDs, and had to continually very the integrity of local files. Then, if it booted, it had to install the C208 in one of its liveries, every time, and even then didn't always work. It was probably something I did, but renaming the Community file didn't do anything, so, a reinstall.
Thanks heavens I keep all my Orbx files in a separate library!
Anyway, so far, so good.

There's another update, 1.5, as of this morning.

It's a beauty, and, as it's an Aeroplane Heaven aircraft, there's a VH version on release.

I agree, and I can't help wondering if people are also expecting miraculous results from computers that just can't perform up to the levels required.

A screenshot would be good, if you can do it, Derek.

I thought it might have something to do with PC management, like cleaning cache, etc. I use CC Cleaner, and I figured it was connected to that.

Recently, I posted about finding the Fokker Tri-motor "Southern Cross" impossible to fly. On takeoff, it would enter an almost vertical climb, stall and then crash. No amount of trimming, weight -and-balance, control adjustments could fix it, so basically I gave up on it.
Yesterday, I was having a look at my installed aircraft in MSFS, and noticed that the Fokker folder size was 10GB, which I though was rather large for this aircraft. So, I uninstalled, and reinstalled it. ( I thought I had done this before, but might not have) The file size is MUCH smaller!
Now, the aircraft flies perfectly, or as well as it could...
I can only think that somehow MSFS installed it over itself.
So, I just thought I'd post this, in case anyone has had a similar problem.

My PC spec is very similar to yours, I have a 3090, but instead of an i9, I have an i7-11700K, and 64GB of 3200 DDR4, and MSFS runs superbly in Ultra. I strongly believe it is forces other than your PC at work here. As JoseCFII said, it could well be something in your Community Folder. Have you tried renaming it, and running MSFS in its vanilla state?
I truly think this is an outstanding sim that is only getting better.

Nick,
Please don't take my comment as an overall criticism of the aircraft. As an Australian, I was really excited to see it, and bought it immediately. I'm just having trouble flying it. I initially thought there was something wrong with my controls, until I flew another aircraft with no problems.
I did see the review on YouTube, but didn't last the wole way through, and, indeed, I know that AvAngel said it seemed unfinished. I'm going to have another fly of the aeroplane today, and, hopefully, will have more success.
