  1. A couple of years ago, I read that Orbx were planning a subscription based service for airports. Did this ever happen or is it ever going to happen?
I'm currently working my way around the world in the Vision Jet and Comanche and have many Orbx airports on my list that I would love to fly to and from but as I would only use them once or twice, am unlikely to purchase as there are so many of them.

I have already bought many airports several times from Orbx (FSX, P3D, XP11, MSFS) and, while it's nice to fly from a custom built airport, it's hard to justify spending so much when you only visit them once or twice.

    Thank you,

    Toby

  2. I have just installed XP12 and will be using a Traffic add-on to spawn AI into the world, including GA.

On starting my first flight at EGTF, I spawned inside a static aircraft. There are lots at EGTF.

I appreciate that it takes time to add an option for two versions of the airport but this should be standard in today's sim world.

Using the attached image as an example from another post here about this topic, the 'Configure' option is not available at every airport currently.

I would like to log an official request with Orbx to either provide unencrypted BGL files so that we can remove the aircraft or to provide an option without static for EVERY airport, not just the large ones.

    Thank you

    Hello,

X Plane 11, by the way, does not use the "registry" at all.

Orbx Central finds it by reading C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\x-plane_install_11.txt.

That gives it the location and then it must also find a copy of X-Plane.exe there.

It seems highly unlikely that X Plane 12 would use the same file names and until Orbx Central is

told where to look, it will not find it.

I am sure that an enterprising customer could cobble together a workaround based on that information.

It might even work, who knows? :)

Duplicating the C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\x-plane_install_12.txt file and renaming it x-plane_install_11.txt allowed me to install the Orbx XP11 software that I own via Orbx Central.

N.B. I don't have XP11 installed so I can do this without any issues. YMMV. I do not recommend this solution if you have XP11 installed!!!

  4. Thank you for your help Jon.

Xorganizer had automatically placed the yOrtho4XP overlay folder above the Orbx Ortho folders. I imagine as they contain Ortho tiles too.

I created a new folder for the yOrtho4XP overlays and put it in with the other Forkboy ortho files that I'm using.

Problem solved and Seattle area looks lovely again, thank you :)
