The control panel allows you to have both FTX AI and default AI on.

sure, but it is written following below:

You should always untick this box when you use FTX NA GA AI Traffic in the Orbx regions of the US and Canada so you can make full use of the FTX custom aircraft for this region

Check the trafficAircraft.bgl file in the Scenery\World\Scenery directory.

If it has OFF or some such text following .bgl, , or has been renamed (exp: trafficAircraft.utb) then just restore the suffix to .bgl and the FSX traffic file will be active again.

You're right, it was renamed, by Traffic X I suppose...

So Traffix X will be not compatible with ORBX AI traffix in mixed mode??

Just be aware of the potential performance hit.

A setting of say 50% GA traffic with the FSX default traffic is less than 50% with FSX AND Orbx traffic files.   You might have to move your GA slider down a bit from where it is currently set.

The Orbx traffic files don't include airline traffic, so that's not an issue unless you are also using Traffic X.  Then the usage of Traffic X and FSX airline traffic will really hit your system because FSX doesn't use lite or low poly aircraft for their flight plans.  Both Traffic X and Orbx do,which makes their performance hit less..
