I had the honor to be invited to have a good look inside and out of the only passenger flying DC-7B in existence, at Opa-Locka airport (Miami).

N836D is a former Eastern Air Lines restored DC-7B, now in flying condition and based at Opa-Locka. The whole story can be read at the article I wrote for Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N836D_DC-7B

or by doing a Google search to see their site and news about her restoration to flying status.

They take people once in a while. They have 58 seats. Cost is around $250 to $300 usually. They fly at around 1,000 ft for sightseeing.

I have not flown in her (yet).

It is an awesome aircraft. They told me she flies beautifully. and only low as explained.

Even in the only international flight they have done so far (Miami to St. Marteen), they flew at 5,000 ft. The sightseeing is great.
