markwlee
Try starting the \FSFDT\Control Panel and in options: untick all the "Autostarts" See if FSX will start now. Surely the question was about starting a "service", probably FSInn or Copilot - you have to allow FSX to trust it. But seems like you have a problem - Vista? That's something to start with anyway. Also make sure this is the version you have: FSCopilot17B2_4 and FSInn13B2_3
Grocs
It also could be that you need to run FSX as an administrator. Are you running Vista? If so - go to your games menu - right click on FSX icon, click on customise, then edit in the customise (play) screen - open up the compatibility tab and click the run as administrator option. Then load FSX again and see how you go. If that doesn't help - go to the all programs menu and the FSFDT folder - then right click on each of the main progams FSINN, FSINN UL and FSINN UL VL - run each of those as adminstrator - close them down and then load up FSX as usual. You'll hopefully find it will fix the issue of crashing close to starting up (I had a similar issue). Good luck. Grocs.
