shipdriver
It is not exacty optimized for bush flying, so it is very complimentary to aircraft such as the Beaver- the Lancair for trips between civilized or semi-civilized airports and a bush plane for short/rough fields and water landings. It does have fairly long legs (I've done a 1067 mile non-stop trip from Sitka to Dutch Harbor in it) and high cruise altitudes and speeds, especialy for a single-engine GA. I've alternated between the Lancair and the Beaver for PFJ exploration and other northwestern activities. I have gotten landngs down pretty well in the Lancair but it requires pretty long t/o runs for GA. I sweat takeoffs at shorter fields lke Concrete more than I do landings (in fact, I believe have heard the scraping of treetops on the bottom of the plane on takeoff a couple of times!). That said, I love the thing!
