alan2 Posted October 7, 2010 Share Posted October 7, 2010 Probably the first ocean trip Ive done, Norfolk Is to Coffs Harbour. It was a long way, too long I cheated and scrubbed off a lot of miles. What I did enjoy ( besides all of it !) was coming towards the mainland peering through the haze waiting for the mainland to appear. It was real ! First I could hardly discern it , a thin vague line appearing that solidified and took shape as I drew close, just as you would expect . A good trip, but it all happened on approach - hydraulic failure , I managed to get one notch of flaps . One leg down and locked, the other unlocked and not fully down. "Ladies and gentlemen fasten your seatbelts and grab your bibles." We landed ok, skewed of the runway and ended up on the grass out of everybody's way .
