cloudbase Posted September 2, 2010 Share Posted September 2, 2010 There is some interesting technology called spintronics or topological insulators being developed. current CPU chips shuffle electrons, ie electrons are physically moved from A to B using a lot of energy and generating a lot of heat due to resistance, what I seem to understand is that spintronics/topological insulators only moves electrons with the same spin orientation through lower resistance pathways using a quantum effect that results in a lot lower resistance, ie computers run a lot faster and use only a fraction of the power with far less heat, perhaps this will allow us to run DDR4,5,6,7......
