crashmax
Hello everybody, I'm in process to test the new i7 980 X for FSX. After a few hours I can say, that FSX runs a bit better and smoother as with i7 975. But don't expect too much. Of cores this is an early statement and I will test some more including overclocking. Best regards Pad

tennyson
Pad, Are your PC specs not up to date? It says "Xeon" in them. Also, where did you pick up the 980. We don't have them available in Oz yet and what Mobo have you got this running on? Frank

drumsonly2002
12meg L-3 Cache must make a difference. The price is better than I thought. Seems like a good chip. Lost some work so all I can afford are pictures of it.
crashmax
Sorry, my signature was not up to date. Will show you all the numbers as soon as I have the time (the next few days). I bought this CPU in Switzerland as I live there. Kind Regards Pad

tennyson
1600-1700 bucks just for the CPU. Kinda kills my 5000 budget for the new machine, but I gotta have one. Might have to sell a lung or a heart or somethin....definately not the car! Frank

John Rambo
Thanks for sharing your experiences! Is it technically possible to use two of these CPU's on a motherboard with 2 CPU sockets?

tennyson
So, in a perfect world, those that have the extra green stuff to challenge the barriers would go out and snavvle up 2 x i7 980x's @ $1395.00Aus and put them on the evga board @ $650.00Aus. However in the real world, you will need 2 x Xeon processors @ $2000.00+ to go on your expensive mobo. Trailblazing, not for the faint hearted.....
