COBS
I remember Narrandera fondly . Many years ago I was enroute Holbrook - Narrandera with the intention to do some NDB let downs, had an instructor on board . The turbulence was kind of rough , the instrument panel was vibrating badly and almost impossible to focus on , I thought at the time that there was no way in hell that I would be able to maintain IFR tolerances during a let down on instruments , my instructor , who was a great guy said nothing , leaving all the decision making up to me , well stupidly I perservered , in the back of the aircraft we had a canvas bag with tie down gear , including heavy steel stakes , all of a sudden there was an almighty deafening crashing sound as the tie down bag hit the roof of the cockpit due to the turbulence . At that point I advised the instructor that I was doing a 180 for Holbrook , his only reaction was "Good choice" . Cheers Karol
