tim_A
Heading back inland, and across somewhat familiar territory (don't worry, we won't spend any time looking at it, for what will become obvious reasons...) [img width=1160 height=309]http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/8942/nsw0602.jpg A somewhat lonely parking spot on a deserted, unimproved airfield [img width=1160 height=309]http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/6198/nsw0603.jpg The weather on the ground was rather nice, but get into the air and we're quickly greeted with a solid wall of cloud! [img width=1160 height=309]http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/7604/nsw0604.jpg The town of Moruya [img width=1160 height=309]http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/3492/nsw0605.jpg Let's look at the ground while we can! The river is Donald's Creek [img width=1160 height=309]http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/8340/nsw0606.jpg Punching through the clouds. Don't worry, I have all the proper ratings... I got them cheap off eBay! [img width=1160 height=309]http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/3889/nsw0607.jpg And out on top! [img width=1160 height=309]http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/3627/nsw0608.jpg Somewhere below us is Cooma... I think [img width=1160 height=309]http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/9935/nsw0609.jpg The Snowy Mountains push above the clouds, but our destination is in that valley ahead... [img width=1160 height=309]http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/8692/nsw0610.jpg Reminds me of the first time I jumped off a diving board. Pinch your nose, shut your eyes and think of England... [img width=1160 height=309]http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/7513/nsw0611.jpg Visibility isn't too bad once you're actually in the soup. Dead reckoning wins the day and we're pretty much overhead the airfield. [img width=1160 height=309]http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/5695/nsw0612.jpg A descending turn over the lake [img width=1160 height=309]http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/6474/nsw0613.jpg And we're nicely lined up on final. There's not much wind so we can pretty much take our pick of runways. Straight in will do nicely! [img width=1160 height=309]http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/4465/nsw0614.jpg Someone's even laid on a car to take us into town. That was thoughtful! Ausiguy
Another nice trip. For your next one you should add my new weather and try one of the themes and perhaps invite a couple of us along in multiplayer. I have the DA40 and I'm planning on taking it out for a spin this evening.
tim_A
What is your new weather? I'm currently using thr REX2 weather engine. I'm several legs ahead, flying vs reporting, and my last flight put me close to Broken Hill. I'm flying after work at the mo, where I can catch an hour or so before dinner (take off typically 5pm/1700zulu). Flights are not planned very far ahead, other than having a 'general idea'. I do often fly on VATSIM, so anyone that spots me is welcome to join in.
Ausiguy
You can download the weather themes I created from the Tips and Tricks forum. They work with REX but will give you some full blown IFR conditions like you've not seen before, if that's what you like. We usually fly online around 03:00Z 9pm Central time in the U.S.
