Some 3d of the NIMITZ

Here are some more 3d of the NIMITZ. I can't get away from this 3d. Today I did a flight in a Carenado PA28 from Camden (OZX) to Bathurst (stopped flight in the air) over AU Blue in 3d and it is awsome. You can see the creek gullies below and the depth of perception. To show how great it is I did a few from the freeware USS NIMITZ. On some of the pics the aircraft appears to be outside of the monitor and you try to grab it with your hands!

Please note red/blue glasses required.

Great shots!! your best yet ?  :D

Dont have any three D glasses . I went to Nvidea site and run a quick check with them and they have deemed that my computer is unsuitable for 3D..... :-[    ???    Laptop Dell 1720 - 8600M , 3GB, 2.5ghz .  Having trouble believing them, aah well.

I see I am going to have to get 3D glasses.  Hey, this reminds me...where do I read up on how to make the stuff work on the Nimitz. Landing and stopping is easy and fun, but how do I make the take-off work. Shift + i doesn't do a thing for me.

Great pics, I think (since I can not see the 3D properly).  ;D

Hi Alan and Steve,

I got onto the 3d thing after viewing some pics elsewhere in the forums. Some were from JV at Tamworth.  Its easier than I thought. I saw a kids 3d atlas in Kmart for $10 with 2 cheap cardboard pair and I thought its worth a try and had a look at the screenies in the forums and bingo, stunning. There is a program I saw in the forums called TriDef. There is a 14 day trial and it costs $50US. I bought it after half a days trial. It works on my system (XP, LCD  1680x1050 monitor, Nvidia GS250).

Andreas replied to one of my posts you may like to look at "Fantastic shots. I love the whole 3D stuff, and your settings of depth are perfect. I did some tests with the Tridef driver some weeks ago, and the only weakness I discovered was the flat cockpit 3D effect, but the external views are perfect."

If your trial version of Tridef has expired you might try to use the anaglyph version of the IZ3D driver, which is completely free. Download at http://www.iz3d.com/driver" I had already paid for TriDef, but a quick look appears to be for Radeon Cards??

To set up I installled TriDef, then launched FSX form Tridef  and FSX is in 3d ( with glasses). Press "aLT+

SHIFT+f1" TO SEE THE OPTIONS MENU WITHIN fsx.

For a good pair of plastic 3d glasses JV mentioned a site here http://www.oz3d.com.au/product_info.php/cPath/22/products_id/35 $13

The same company will soon have plastic clip ons for reading glasses.

Cheers,

Nomr

Stephen,

I forgot this part.

I had trouble also with launch but found how it works. Make sure you are parked over the correct place, try for external view.

I can't remember the correct order but from memory you need

shift+U Launch bar??

shift+I to arm??

full throttle

shift+space to launch

It is important to be over the correct place for the launch bar to engage.

Cheers ,

Norm

Ok where does a guy get these 3d glasses? I haven't seen a pair since the 80's.

Ricky, at the moment I got a pair from a kids 3d atlas from Kmart for $10. They are cardboard with and celophane (red/blue). Or you can buy a pair mentioned earlier in this post fro $13. You can view these screenshots and videos with the glasses byut to make the sim 3d you need software as mentioned earlier in this post or do a search in the FTX forums on "3d glasses".

Cheers,

Norm

They are quite nice, although the compression makes a ghost image appear.

I like the 3D surrounds but the only problem I have found is that it really takes a toll on frames.

And all I use are some 3D glasses I picked up when I watched SpyKids at the movies a few years ago, lol

I will look into it, sounds like a cool new way to experience flight sim!
