tennyson
Intel have now re-issued their Firmware upgrade software for the G2's. It not only employs trim, which extends the life of the drive, but on the 160gb drives it has updated the sequential write software. The operation is carried out by downloading and burning an iso image of the software and the whole process takes about half an hour. Whilst I can't see any difference at the moment, I'll just go and have a little fly around YMML and give it a test, Frank

RallyFan
Hi there, I'm looking at a few SSD, can't find the Intel G2 from my local comp shop, but they have the X-25E and X-25M, are they simillar?
Ian Routley
X-25E is the extreme SSL version I think. Faster write speeds ... enterprise level. Rather expensive last time I looked.
tennyson
Ian's right, E for extreme (server use and such) and M for mainstream (shlub users like us!). And also, the firmware has made a difference to the speed, I'm sure of it. Frank
RallyFan
Ahh ... cool, thanks. A bit more research to do then - especially given these babies are not cheap. Cheers! Jason
