ausie
Hi all, I'm having a system built for FSX to my specs. I was just checking the RAM (6GB) the guys going to use and found this on another forum . {quote} The memory DOES NOT MATTER as long as its 3x2GB DDR3 1600 in Fastest: 6-5-6 6-6-6 6-7-6 And at MINIMUM: 7-7-7 you are still doing VERY well on 7-7-7 Just DO NOT go to 8-8-8 or higher @ 1600 {end quote} My guy using this, CORSAIR TR3X6G1600C8 6GB (3x 2GB) PC-12800 (1600MHz) DDR3 RAM, 32x240-pin DIMMs, TRIPLE CHANNEL, Non ECC Unbuffered, 8-8-8-24. Whats then forums consider thoughts please. Clive M.
alainneedle1
This is the lowest timing I founf for 6GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145269 Low numbern= faster RAM.....
jgutteri
That seems pretty high, but the bandwidth (1600Mhz) should compensate. You could try increasing the timings (lowering the numbers) in the BIOS when you're comfortable with how it works
ausie
Just to clarify thing this {CORSAIR TR3X6G1600C8 6GB (3x 2GB) PC-12800 (1600MHz) DDR3 RAM, 32x240-pin DIMMs, TRIPLE CHANNEL, Non ECC Unbuffered, 8-8-8-24 } is what my computer guru has quoted to install in my new rig. I know nothing about these things but the info from the guy on the other forum is saying don't use this 8-8-8-24 RAM. Is this something thats adjustable?? Heiko Glatthorn
Low numbern= faster RAM..... = more $$$ Always run it with the stated speed, latencies and voltage found on the sticker on the RAM. Otherwise you are most likely in for some headache. If you run the RAM on lower clocks you might be able to pull back CL, but better you know exactly what you are on about.
