tennyson
Bought that very drive last week, Brad. From all accounts, I'd say very worth it. Loaded brand new Win 7 64 bit Ultimate but I haven't done any trim function or firmware upgrade, straight install, turning off hyperthreading in the Bios and a few other tricks and this thing sings. If I'm gonna get another 40% boost by adding a firmware upgrade, I'll be in heaven. I might just hang off a bit tho until the dust settles before doing it, tho, at least for the moment. tennyson
Mine wasn't lying around, it was in my wife's bank account, doing nothing. So I put it to work... Frank
Heiko Glatthorn
Looks like a new firmware update is around the corner http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=239817
Ian Routley
The firmware being pulled and then reissued is only a problem if you flashed it. I'd say this is ideal Mango ... someone else gets tobe the guinea-pig ... and potentially lose all their data!
Heiko Glatthorn
Should be out of beta until i need it
tennyson
I still don't know what the big deal is all about? I've had no problems with this drive. It worked perfectly, straight from the box. It is clearly the fastest drive I've ever owned and it loves FSX/FTX. If the trim software makes it faster or better, that's great, but I wonder if there can really be that much of a difference. I checked the intel site just now and there's no news, so I will see when it arrives. Frank
Ian Routley
The purpose of TRIM / wear levelling is to stop performance degradation over time.
