Pilot62 Posted April 1, 2016 Share Posted April 1, 2016 Sirs, EFHF Helsinki Malmi Airport Finland has been chosen by Europa Nostra among the seven most endangered cultural heritage sites in Europe in 2016. The City of Helsinki is planning to stop airport operations and replace the airport by concrete blocks and housing for 25 000 inhabitants. Helsinki Malmi airport is an important airport for pilot training and the only airport for unscheduled international light aircraft flights within 150 km of Helsinki. With over 30 000 annual operations, EFHF has been the second busiest airport in Finland. Helsinki-Vantaa (EFHK) is not suitable for light aircraft operations due to heavy jet traffic and slot time restrictions. The Friends of Malmi Airport society is continuing the battle to save the historic airport operational. This airport, if any, would deserve a quality scenery for flight simulator enthusiasts.
