dubaintl94
Hello, At KLAS the area surrounding half of the airport is green. The other half is brown because of the default Las Vegas scenery in the scenery library. So I tried unchecking this scenery and everything was green, but the ground of the Strip was plain grey. The picture below shows KLAS with the default LV scenery checked: Is there a way to merge that default LV scenery with FTX Global? Also, the area around the runways is all supposed to be brown - Las Vegas is in a desert after all. Is there a way to make it like this?
Jethro VH-JET
Hi dubaintl94, Take a look at this thread for an explaination http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/64385-should-las-vegas-look-like-this/?hl=klas apparently has a possible fix using the recently released FTX OLC NA AK/CAN. dubaintl94
So I have to pay another $15 on top of the $80 spent on Global?? Please, this is my home airport, and it's the only place where I've seen this ugly problem. Isn't there a simple fix?
Jethro VH-JET
Yes, that's the general idea. Unfortunately there is just no getting around the way FSX chooses to call/place Land Class, textures alone cannot overcome some of these types of issues. That is why you are seeing landClass divided between FTXGlobal texture on KLAS McCarran & FSX default KLAS Las Vegas and Greater Las Vegas Hotel & Casino strip (PhotoReal tile). Sometimes it is great and other times it fails miserably. You could always try a full PhotoReal for the area which will give an overall look to the area but for my money full PR tends to lack vibrance. By installing a LC product such as FTX OLC NA AK/CAN for such a reasonable price, keeping in mind that the Global range of products FTXGlobal, FTXVector, FTXOLC are meant to be used in conjunction with each other, beginning with FTXGlobal base which you already have. Gradually enhancing the whole Globe as new OLC products are added, there are 7 OLC products to be completed over time. Finally you can increase the level of authentic terrain Mesh by installing PILOTS FTX FSGlobal Mesh 2010 to round out the whole process. Think now how bad FSX Default looked straight after installation, Lots of "Tan deserts" in the most unlikely places, the FSX Globe is built upon layers, Mesh, LandClass, Textures, Vector Data, Airports/Autogen, the Default FSX Globe needs to be modified through these layers to see closer to reality within the Sim.
