  1. Irrespective of the Orbx position with the release of YSCB for 2020 it means the imagery was available. At the end of the day it is nothing more than a cop out, not just YSCB but all products, by developers where P3D is concerned. The almighty dollar speaks volumes.

I don't know where you got the idea that it was ever slated for updating. The developer who took on the project had many issues with imagery and other resources just to get it to what we got. He decided to leave scenery development not long after. It was his scenery, and with him gone, the knowledge base went too.

An attempt was made by some Orbx related people to get an update made while covid had rendered the airport empty most of the time but the airport wasn't willing to grant access for imagery etc.

Since then, an absolutely beautiful and accurate YSCB has been developed for MSFS. If you want to fly around the Canberra area, there is now a top class alternative to the FSX/P3D coding available, in a far superior sim as well.

Interesting response. As for the expectation that an update would be done then you only have to look at the version released to understand why and compare to Canberra Airport today. Find it confusing that access was not granted for imagery for P3D then in the next paragraph you speak of Canberra being released for 2020 - come on mate, you can’t have it both ways.
Not that it matters but l have invested many $1000’s with P3D addons and have no interest in crossing to 2020 as l believe P3D is a much more stable platform, particularly when it comes to airliners - my preferred ‘operation’. The scenery is irrelevant at 35000’.

As stated in an earlier post, Orbx, like many other developers, are more interested in the money trail than supporting those who chose to remain with P3D.

  3. G’day John

I never said anything about Orbx being a charity. My point with YSCB is that Orbx released it while the airport was in the very early stage of a major development and there was expectation that it would updated once the development was completed. I have no issues with companies making viable commercial decisions but l do have issues when you drop loyal customers based on the platform they choose to use.

Allow me a quote: "Is Orbx abandoning loyal FSX/P3D users?"

I would imagine that Orbx, as a company, is going the same way as other developers and following the money to MSFS.

    The keyword is "Survival".

I would like to think that P3D development will continue in some way or other.

The silence from Orbx is deafening when it comes to P3D updates. We were advised some time ago that Orbx had no plans to update P3D YSCB now or in the foreseeable future regardless of the fact the airport is no longer a building site - nor has it been for several years. To quote John Dow in an earlier post ‘Orbx and most developers' airports are 'point in time' products. Generally updates to reflect changes are not economic propositions. A developer may choose to revisit an airport after major changes but normally it is not done.’, yet there were updates done with both Melbourne and Brisbane - seems they’re being selective when it comes to updates.
Unfortunately, like most companies today, they are more interested in the dollars than customer loyalty, unless of course you’re using MSFS.

  5. Did my first run with the new P3Dv5.2 Brisbane City this afternoon. Was curious with regard FPS given a few mates had freeze issues on arrival into Brisbane (one on a 3 mile and the other on touchdown. P3D went into “not responding” mode and shutdown as a result. My flight, finished about an hour ago, was all good until l started to exit via a high speed. It then froze and noticed the VRAM had maxed out - FPS (VC view) was 29.3 at the time of the freeze.

l have Brisbane V2 and have completed many flights in and out without issue. I have other sceneries that impact on FPS but have never had an issue with VRAM.

    Anyone else experiencing something similar.

    cheers Steve
