  1. Mine stopped during the conversion process. Restarted my machine and did the verify files check, and that got it going again.

Haven't seen a changelog, but it was really cheap for existing XP11 owners. If that means anything?

The coastlines have the 3D water now, and it's a new overlay. Can still see some 2D trees though.

I would guess they've added the new custom buildings from the MSFS version too.

It has been our intention to continue to develop for X-Plane, even though it looks like there are less users of the sim (or less interested in buying add-ons) than in the past. It is quite hard for us to commit to major development work, which as you know takes many months, and then see no returns for our efforts, so we need to be quite practical around product choices, or our developers do not get paid. While reading this thread and a few others on the same topic, I have been thinking about the possibility of engaging some of you who want, and know how, to develop in XP12 (specifically) for some hands-on work. Just an idea to open up the possibility of having a group of interested people working on testing, updating and doing new scenery from scratch. Maybe nothing will come out of it, but you never know...

Thanks for your response. I think the main issue is that your XP11 sceneries 'work' in 12. What they need are the new 3D trees, 3D water and weather effects. But because we can still use them without, it's not like we're forced to stay in XP11 or vanilla XP12. That's why demand has seemed slower. So from a business perspective, it's seeing XP12 work as updates, and then how they could fit into a business model. I would happily pay an upgrade fee.

  3. Am I right in saying Orbx had a separate XP team working on the TE stuff, based around the GB Pro project? What are they all doing now?

Seems like there just isn't the market now to cover the time/expense for XP12.

Lower res versions for the UK?

You've just got to be kidding, we need higher res and I'll pay good money for it.

I was thinking more in terms of file size, like the HD/SD versions of TE. For those of us without a lot of SDD space.

Of course, let's get the highest res possible too. 24GB now on the top Nvidia cards?

  5. As is, it looks like everything works well in XP12. Haven't got Global Forests yet, so I'll see how much improvement that makes over Sim Heaven. 3D trees are the new big thing.

3D water means some of the mesh and ortho needs looking at, so that might be a lot of work when you consider the size of the TE areas.

Would be good to get lower res versions of the GB regions too, in line with the rest of the TE areas.

  6. I haven't seen many trees on the Canary Islands, so am I doing something wrong? Just made shortcuts to the individual TE and Libs scenery folders, then pasted those into the XP12 Custom Scenery folder. Should I copy the folders over instead?

So now it's just a case of replacing the old trees with XP12 default or designing new ones, and changing water masks to allow for the 3D water? Any other default objects that need replacing?

  7. Hi,

What optimisation has been done to make the Xbox versions, and can these new versions be installed into the PC Community folder?

If not, would they be offered at some point in the future, like the SD versions of True Earth for XP11?

I'm guessing it's mainly lower textures?

    Regards, Steven
