  1. Ok, I'm back with another updated comparison of the airports in P3DV4 and V5.

I compiled three different lists and also included a readme-file with the description of what is included and what it means.

With this data it should be easy to check for any discrepancy between the V4 and V5-database using Excel or other programs of course:

    The csv-files are attached ;)

    P3DV4V5_ICAO_Matches_and_is_closest.csv

    P3DV4V5_ICAO_Matches_but_is_not_closest.csv

    P3DV4V5_ICAO_NoMatch_decommissioned_or_changed.csv

    Cheers,

Here is the content of the Readme-file:

This is a comparison of all airports in P3D V4HF2 with the updated airports in P3D V5HF1.

I checked all V4 ICAO-codes against all airports available in V5 and calculated the distance between them.

Then I filtered for the V5-airports which are closest to the old V4-airports,
but also checked for a matching ICAO-code, even if this is not the closest airport in V5.

--- Three lists are included for further evaluation ---

    They contain the following data:
ICAO - The ICAO code of the airport in V4
Name - The name of the airport in V4
City - The city of the airport in V4
Lat - The latitude of the airport in V4
Lon - The longitude of the airport in V4
Alt - The altitude of the airport in V4
Rwy1 - The 1st Rwy of the airport in V4
Rwy2 - The 2nd Rwy of the airport in V4
Rwy3 - The 3rd Rwy of the airport in V4
Rwy4 - The 4th Rwy of the airport in V4
MinDist - The distance to the closest airport found in V5 (in km)
ICAO_MinDist - The ICAO code of the closest airport in V5
Name_MinDist - The name of the closest airport in V5
City_MinDist - The city of the closest airport in V5
Lat_MinDist - The latitude of the closest airport in V5
Lon_MinDist - The longitude of the closest airport in V5
Alt_MinDist - The altitude of the closest airport in V5
Rwy1 MinDist - The 1st Rwy of the closest airport in V5
Rwy2 MinDist - The 2nd Rwy of the closest airport in V5
Rwy3 MinDist - The 3rd Rwy of the closest airport in V5
Rwy4 MinDist - The 4th Rwy of the closest airport in V5
ICAO_V4andV5 - Just a "Yes" or "No" if the ICAO is used in V4 and V5
ICAO_Match - The ICAO code of the ICAO-match in V5
    Name_Match - The name of the ICAO-match in V5
    City_Match - The city of the ICAO-match in V5
    Lat_Match - The latitude of the ICAO-match in V5
    Lon_Match - The longitude of the ICAO-match in V5
    Alt_Match - The altitude of the ICAO-match in V5
    Rwy1 Match - The 1st Rwy of the ICAO-match in V5
    Rwy2 Match - The 2nd Rwy of the ICAO-match in V5
    Rwy3 Match - The 3rd Rwy of the ICAO-match in V5
    Rwy4 Match - The 4th Rwy of the ICAO-match in V5

    1) P3DV4V5_ICAO_Matches_and_is_closest.csv

        Explanation:
The ICAO-code is available in V4 and V5.
The airport with the matching ICAO-code is also the closest airport.
        What does it mean:
        - The airport was not changed.
        - The airport was slightly corrected in position.
        - The airport was closed and a new airport was opened close by with the same ICAO.

    2) P3DV4V5_ICAO_Matches_but_is_not_closest.csv

        Explanation:
The ICAO-code is available in V4 and V5.
But the matching ICAO-airport is not the closest airport!
        What does it mean:
        - The airport has been re-located using the same ICAO, but another airport in V5 is now closer to the old airport-position in V4. (maybe a small airfield)
        - The ICAO has been reused for a different airport, so the old V4-airport has been decommissioned.

    3) P3DV4V5_ICAO_NoMatch_decommissioned_or_changed.csv

        Explanation:
The V4 ICAO-code is not available in V5.
        What does it mean:
        - The V4-airport has been decommissioned - closest airport found should be checked for consistency!
        - The V4 ICAO was changed - the closest match with the given distance should be checked!

I searched the Excel document and wasn't able to find Joseph State Airport. Was 4S3 and is now KJSY.

    Hi,

unfortunately my search "algorithm" was not good enough  Not all airports with changed ICAOs are included in my list!

I tried a different approach with calculating the distance between airports, finding the closest match of an old V4 to a new V5 airport.

Now I have a really big list and tried to compile a new "Changed ICAO list", but there are many circumstances to consider:

    1. The ICAO code and the airport position did not change -> The easiest part ;)
    2. The ICAO code is no longer in use (in V5), but an airport with a new ICAO is at the exact same position -> Also easy, this is a replaced ICAO of course.
    3. The ICAO code is no longer in use (in V5), but there is no airport at the exact same position?!? -> Is this an ICAO-change? Is it a corrected airport location and an ICAO change? Is the old airport simply closed and there is a new one?
    4. The ICAO is still in use in V5, but the airport position changed. -> Maybe the ICAO has been re-used and the V4-airport is decomissoned? Or an old airport has been closed and is now located elsewhere with the same ICAO?

That was the point where I lost my motivation and stopped working on this...:banghead:

I think I will give it another try and compile a list with different categories, so anyone can look into it and look up specific airports.

Some of them have to be manually checked, because some changes cannot be detected automatically...

    May I suggest the following:
    1. run on a vanilla P3Dv5 Installation "simple airport scanner" or similar tool.
    2. run on a P3Dv5 Installation with all Orbx stuff the tool again.

The difference of both results should be the airports you have to check.

Unfortunately Simple Airport Scanner is not yet compatible with P3DV5...otherwise the ideas is great :)
