  1. Thanks again Sentry11, I think now we're getting somewhere. Yes, that 'ini' is nested because I had to install a clean version of XP and already had the folder X-Plane 11 (which got corrupted and the reason for a fresh install), therefore I made folder X-Plane 11.55. Should it matter what it's called and nested? The corrupted files point to   H:Seagate 8TB / Orbx Libraries x-plane 11 / and under that is  MSFS & XP11, where all HD sceneries are. The fresh install has no pointers, so I guess it can't see the Library. How do I fix that?

I also noticed in OrbxCentral, in Settings>Downloaded>Concurrency, it was set to SSD but my installs are on a HDD. I switched that and did a Synchronize but still no Orbx scenery displays.

  2. Thanks Sentry11. I didn't know anyone else was following this issue! Unfortunately that did not help. I want to ask you about the ini you suggested I use. Was that mine that you rearranged? Or your own? I saw there was no Oregon files in it and that was one reason KPDX did not show. When I then looked in my Custom Scenery file I too had no Oregon. ??? where did it go? I did a fresh  install of X-Plane, downloaded Oregon HD, and a verify. Verify, received no error messages (other than those I explained in earlier thread) but now when I look there is no longer Oregon.  ??? .

Another thing I don't understand: my original install of XP & TE, in the Custom Scenery folder there are little arrows in the bottom left corner of every file except Oregon files. I realize they are probably just pointers to OrbxLibs. But why not on the Oregon files? And why not are they not on any of the files in my newly installed Custom Scenery folder? Screen shots attached.

I did a Synchronize from Orbx Central but still nothing at KPDX. Again, I can tell from loading an airport in XP, by the time it takes to load, when XP says "Reading new scenery files" if I'm getting TE or not.

  3. Thanks Jon,

Two sceneries that work are NorCal & Great Britten South Demo. They take 38 seconds and 42 sec. respectively to load, whereas Socal (KLAX), Oregon (KPDX), & Washinton (KSEA), Florida KMIA) take 13-15 sec. to load. In those last 4, I see no Downtown, a lack of dense housing in areas surrounding the airports, and no Container loading cranes in KSEA area. They truly look like XP default scenery. I also tried WA56, Israel's Farm and didn't even see the runway. Monument Valley did not look like I saw it after the initial download (before I had issues with Oregon). I'll have to load these in pairs, as the file sizes are very large and I didn't think I should change them. Would the central.log be of use for you to see?

  4. Hi Nick & Jon,

Good idea. I installed X-Plane in a new folder using just the default scenery (not the whole world). I copied NorCal over, did a Verify, and my SFO area looks great. Download Oregon and it installed with no problem! From my Products I selected SoCal, did a Verify, and it returned "218 file(s) failed to download... click 'Verify Files'...  to let Central attempt to resolve..." I did so and no more errors. I then selected Washington HD and received similar error msg with 297 errors, did another Verify and it returned "58 file(s) failed to download." Did another Verify and no more errors. I went back to XP's installer and added the remainder scenery.

I also got an email saying there was an Oregon scenery ready for me, 1.1. Was that a replacement?

However, none of the usual places I fly at did not look like Orbx scenery, so I'm not sure if they're actually there, i.e. KLAX didn't have the blue arches in the center. Can my attached file reveal if they're being used?

  5. Hi guys,

Thanks Jon for referring this to Nick, and thanks Nick for responding. Well, things just got worse. I followed your instructions and selected Load Last Flight (EGHI again and got some texture error msgs and an aircraft error msg. but I was able to fly. Forgot to look in plug-ins (maybe LUA is not even there). Launched again with add-on Robin 401 and bang XP crashed. Tried again with default Sentinal aircraft, add-on scenery (MisterX SFO) and another crash. Tried again with default Baron and default scenery KOSU and XP does not even load. Twice I got XP's dialog box to send/report the error, which I did. So now, nothing works. Please advise.

  6. Hi Jon,

Uninstalled Oregon HD, cleared everything, and installed SD as you suggested. Unsuccessfully. I also kept a close eye on that install and no pop-up error messages appeared. It appears to hang in the exact same place, same msg. See previous LogHD.txt and new LogSD.txt. I also tried a different airport and starting on the ground instead of 3 mile final, see LogKLMT.txt. Again, a no go. There is so much room on that 8TB drive I can't see where I might have a space issue.

Oregon was the last TE I added, and I have one to go, Great Britain South Demo. Wow, that was quick! Started at EGHI and it looks like the only issue is with the default C172, and that's perhaps a LUA issue (needs updating?).

This leads me to, again, suspect a corrupt file. Can we ask Nick what he thinks?

    LogHD.txt LogSD.txt LogKLMT.txt

  7. I was not watching the screen when it completed Install, nor at Verify. But the error message came on screen upon launching X-Plane again (after a launch & Quit) when I started at KPDX, 3 mile final, and X-Plane failed to run, just quit loading. Clicking Understood then went back to the Desktop.

  8. Well Jon, I had a beautiful success letter composed, but alas, it is not a success story. It failed in the same place ...B...overlays...buildings/farms.

buildings on H: Orbx Libraries X-Plane11 >msfs & xp11 > TrueEarth US Oregon HD > Custom Scenery > Orbx_B_USOregon_TE_Overlay > buildings > farms and has 9 folders (one of which is farms), plus a windmil.obj and a windmill.png, all different from the below line. farms has a silos folder and a wedges folder and 2,216 obj files, and a ._TE_USA_RGOregon_Farms_Autogen_ALB.png file.

    buildings on H: Orbx Libraries X-Plane11 > msfs & xp11 > Orbx Libraries > Custom Scenery > Orbx_OrbxlibsXP > buildings and has 5 items, 3 AGN_Caravans_Roof...obj and 2 dds files.

Global Airports is too large to upload, but has 300 Earth nav data files and 2 dds files.

In O.C. Settings I moved C:\Temp to H:\Temp and cleared it to 0 B. I unchecked Automatically back up product install files which was C:\users\16508\AppData\Roaming\Orbx\Central\Backup\us-oregon-hd-xp11 and has 638 files.

So, what next? Where did I go wrong again?

  9. Hi Jon,

Thanks for your patience, and help! My bad for a misleading statement about Scenery_Packs.ini. It was, indeed, a Custom Scenery folder I created, NOT Scenery_Packs.ini. My apologies! I did copy the TE files into it, and Global Airports. I did a Clear for Temporary Location and Backup/Location. I realize now that was not the major issue, thanks to the link about installing TE files. The issue was still having Temp on the C: drive (256 GB). I now created a Temp folder on H: (8TB) and used O.C. to point to it. Drive H: now contains Temp, Orbx Libraries, X-Plane 11, & MSFS, and still plenty of room. The linked article refers to Orbx Direct to see file sizes, but there is no longer Direct. I now also removed the check mark for Backups. But, this brings up another question - should I remove those files, leave them there, or move them also to H:? It has 16 folders at 49.9 GB. So, now I'm uninstalling Oregon (with cleared & new location of Temp) and reinstall. Will advise soon. Your help is very much appreciated!!

  10. Hi Jon, thanks for the suggestions.

Reporting back, 3+ days now of trying to get TE_Oregon to work, without success. I believe the Oregon TE in my account is corrupt. Can Orbx remove it and replace it with a good copy?

Here's what I did: Copied Scenery_Packs.ini to Scenery_Packs.x, as you suggested.

Then I copied all Orbx_TE_Oregon files to a new Scenery_Packs.ini, which failed at 89% (discovered later when looking at the _C_Oregon, where the error msg pointed to) that it didn't load all the files. So, I found where it left off and from the Library found the next files that didn't load and copied them over manually, only to discover it had failed because of 'out of space error' on F:

So, I moved the entire x-plane folder from F: to H: (another day), and launched x-plane and quit, Scenery_Packs.ini looked OK. Launched x-plane again - crash. Orbx TE_

    B files not found.

Next, I uninstalled Oregon (from OC), cleared Temporary Location and Backups, as you suggested, and did another Install (another day) and got error msg 10 files were not loaded. Ran Verify. Moved Global Airports into Scenery_Packs.ini and launched x-plane, and Quit. Looked at Scenery_Packs.ini and Global Airports were on top. Launched x-plane again, crashed.

  11. Hello again Jon, and thanks again...

Well, I'm getting there. Rearranged scenery_pack.ini and now KSFO looks great (NORCAL HD), KLAX OK (SOCAL HD), and KSEA (Washington HD) looks great too. However, Oregon still crashes, even after a Verify as you suggested. First it crashed on Orbx Oregon_TE_Overlay so I disabled that line and then it crashed on OREGON_TE_Custom. When I look at my Custom Scenery file all ORBX_xxxTE files have a 'shortcut' icon on them EXCEPT OREGON files. ???

    Getting close now,

    Tom

  12. Hi Jon,

Thanks again, and again. This sounds good but my apologies, for I failed to mention (which is why I came back to this post) that my Orbx Libraries are on a separate drive, i.e. x-plane.exe on F: and Orbx libs on H:, but I'm not sure how/where to place that H:.

And would it be only the lines with TE in them that go under Global Airports?, for example:

SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Orbx_A_US_NoCal_Alcatraz/        this line above Global Airports
SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Orbx_A_US_NoCal_TE_Custom/   this line below Global Airports
    SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Orbx_A_US_SoCal_Airports/         above
    SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Orbx_A_US_SoCal_TE_Custom/    below

    Is SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/TerraFloraXP/   ok under ?

Thanks again Jon, much appreciated help,

    Tom

  13. Hi Jon & Nick,

Thanks for your help guys. I have moved to another machine I built. So, all this is not an issue anymore. I have other issues there with Orbx which I'll post elsewhere, under that topic of scenery_packs.ini.

    However, 3 points.

    1. I used the underscore so as to place the folder at the top level in Explorer (to find it quicker). The underscore doesn't seem to affect anything if I launch x-plane from that path.

    2. A right click on the root folder/Properties, showed:  I:\_X-Plane11-5

    3. I did not copy the 'x-plane_install_11.txt' over & over, just the x-plane 11.3 .4 (etc) .exe.

    Again, thanks guys, stay safe,

    Tom

  14. Hi Jon,

Thanks for prompt reply. Unfortunately that did not work.

In that 'x-plane_install_11.txt' file I had many listings as I when I upgraded I always made a copy as backup, thus 11.35, 11.40b etc. I deleted everything but one of the lines I tried below. In Orbx CENTRAL it no longer sees the other installs, but still does not find my install of .55

Here is the last line of that file, which is what I use.

    I:\_X-Plane11-5\X-Plane 11.5\X-Plane 11

    Here's what I tried:

    I:\_X-Plane11-5\X-Plane 11.5\X-Plane/

    I:\_X-Plane11-5\X-Plane 11.5\X-Plane 11/

    I:\_X-Plane11-5\X-Plane 11.5\X-Plane 11-55/

    I:\_X-Plane11-5\X-Plane 11.5\X-Plane 11-55

    Is it the underscore?
