I own the Optica from the marketplace and had the same problem: when starting on the runway, it works; when cold and dark, the transponder stays alwaysoff.

Shortly before the Word Update IX there was an Orbx-Update in the msfs-marketplace and the transponder worked for a few days... just until the World Update :-(

But here is a way how I get it fixed (my thanks to user Floydrix who solved a probably similar bug in the pmdg-DC6):

    1) Locate the folder, where your Optica is stored (OneStore for marketplace-planes, Community for others)

    2) Navigate to ..\Orbx-aircraft-optica\SimObjects\Airplanes\orbx_optica

    3) Open "apron.flt" in a text editor (don't forget to make a backup).

    4) In the chapter  "[Avionics.0]" find the row "TransponderState=1" and change it to "TransponderState=0"

    5) Save the file and start the game.

For me, it fixes that transponder bug - the transponder works now, no matter how I start the plane.
I hope, it helps you, too. Have a nice flight :-)

Super. The transponder is working now.
    Why do developers overlook this?
    Thank you.

I just ran a test, started cold and dark from these two scenarios:

    1.  Selected the aircraft from the main menu and then a parking spot, turned on the battery, and the GPS fired up fine.

    2.  Selected the C172 and loaded it at a parking spot, turned on the GPS,  and then went back to the Optica, loaded it at a parking spot, and then turned on the battery, and the GPS fired up fine.

What OS are you running?  I'm on Windows 11.

    Windows 10

No problem with GPS. The transponder is not working.

    Hello,

    thanks.

I made another test, this time loading the default Cessna 172 first and then changing to the Optica using developer mode.

That seems to leave the transponder on as well.

The simulator still has some quirks it seems, but I believe that this product is fixed.

    YMMV, as they say.

    Hello,

Thank you for your interest and effort.

    Hello,

the choice is yours of course and I see that you mentioned the competitor aircraft in glowing terms at the outset.

Please don't be misunderstood. I am a very good customer of Orbx. I have purchased many of their products for both Xplane 11 and MSFS2020 (you can check my account). I am extremely satisfied with all of them. I would like to have as many Orbx products as my budget will allow. (I live in Turkey. Our currency is Turkish Lira (TL) Here 1 TL = 17.41 EUR and it is constantly increasing)
However, I mean, I couldn't see the Orbx care in other products in this product. Like its other products, I was expecting a much more functional product from Orbx.

     Hello,

I am not sure that a further solution is required.

One needs only to remember to load the Optica first for the flight and all is well.

    Hello,

I do not agree. Unfortunately I won't be using this aircraft until it's stable.
From now on I will use Got Friends EA-7, which is much more functional.

  6. I bought many products from Orbx (for X-Pane 11 and MSFS2020).

I bought the EA-7 Edgley Optica from the Marketplace. However, I am very sorry. I've never had a problem like this with any of your products.
After the last sim update, the transporder still doesn't work. Do you have a definitive solution to this?
Have you ever thought of integrating the GTN 750 and autopilot into this aircraft?
Is this aircraft an abandoned product by you? Then I regret the money I paid.
You were the company I trusted most among sim developers. I would not expect such a product from you. I will be very careful with your products from now on.
If only you'd at least built a plane like Got Friends' EA-7 Edgley Optica and stood behind it.
