  1. Hello,

After countlessly trying to fix my aircraft from disappearing on the ramp with Orbx True Earth FLA and XP12, I am convinced they are not compatible. Strange thing is, when airborne all works wonderfully well. Upon landing at an airport supported by Orbx True Earth, as you get closer to the runway touchdown point and finally land, the aircraft's fuselage starts to disappear and goes partially underground. The only way to fix this is to delete the File Orbx_C_US_Florida_TE_Orthos from the Custom Scenery file folder. The only problem is with that, all True Earth orthos are lost.....bummer.

Great suggestions Jon - will do! I'll be sure to let you know the outcome. Thanks again for your help!!!!

    Jon,

Suggestions please? There are 4 different files - TE Airports, TE Custom, TE Orthos and TE Overlays. So place the TE Orthos at the very bottom, The TE Airports at the top above Global airports. Where do you place the TE Custom and TE Overlay files?

    Thank you,

    Scott

To save you time I suggest you rename your Custom scenery folder to Custom Scenery.x and make a new Custom Scenery folder.

In the .x folder, make shortcuts for the TE files plus global Airports.

Put the shortcuts into the new Custom Scenery folder.

    Run XP and exit.

Open the scenery_packs.ini and make sure that any TE airport files are above Global Airports and the scenery folders are directly below Global Airports.

Now you have only TE addons in the Custom folder. Try some flights and see if the issues are still there.

Organiser may allow for disabling addons but I would try this method.

  4. Thanks for your help Jon but unfortunately that did not help. I totally deleted xOrganizer from my system and re-launched XP12. I checked both Fla and CA TrueEarth and still the same thing......aircraft is partially under the pavement. As I mentioned before, when I had xOrganizer installed I turned off the Orbx_C_US_Florida_TE_Orthos and the issue went away....but so did the wonderful Orbx scenery.....

I renamed my existing scenery folder and reinstalled a fresh scenery file folder from the XP installer. I will proceed to add sceneries back in and see if I can determine what is causing this issue.

Frustrating... I can see why people gravitate towards MSFS. I have spent hours trying to figure this out to no avail.

  5. I did a little more digging into my situation. The problem seems to exist whenever Orbx_C_US_Florida_TE_Orthos is activated which is shown in the picture on the right. Most of the airplane is under the pavement. The picture on the left is with Orbx_C_US_Florida_TE_Orthos turned off. I perform the turning on / turning off function inside xOrganizer.

If anyone has any ideas I'd sure like to know -

    Thank you,

    Scott

I would assume it's because Orbx still haven't updated TE yet, I didn't notice this behaviour yesterday when I flew into Edinburgh, that's an Orbx addon along with TEGB, where have you seen this, just TE Florida  or that with an airport? so someone can take a look at the particular airport you have seen it?

Good question - I'll check for the same at other FLA airports. I usually just fly to a select few there. I can also check TE California.... Thanks for the ideas! The picture I sent is a picture looking out the right side window  - you are looking at one of the propellers blades sticking up from the ground level...the rest of the airplane is under the ground! As you apply full power on take-off, as you lift off the rest of the plane comes into view - strange.

  7. Hello Nick!

Hoping all is well in the UK!

I have installed Orbx TrueEarth Florida from my XP11 sceneries file into XP12 and it looks fantastic! It really transforms the sim in my opinion. The Only issue I see is when on the ground, and in certain areas on the airports, my airplane seems to go under the pavement. In other words, you can only see parts of the airplane and the view forward it appears that you are just centimeters off the top of the pavement. I am guessing that Orbx TrueEarth lays down on top of the XP12 Log (5).txt and buries anything that is on top of default XP12 scenery?

Are all these things that are happening normal in XP12?

    Thanks,

    Scott

Can blame the developers for that! MSFS is pretty amazing right out of the box. Paying the bills, covering your costs and measuring the best payback on resources spent is priority. I have full confidence the developers here are hard at work trying to provide superb sceneries for all parties. Over the course of a few years the folks here have responded to my needs in an amazing, quick time frame. Matt is that a Mentor you are sitting in?

Ooops! typo! Sorry I meant to say Can't blame the developers for that!

  9. Thanks everyone for your help! I have tried the suggestions out! For some reason, my aircraft disappears under the runway in some of Florida's airports...any ideas?

I am thinking it has to do with the ini file stack.....

  10. Hello Orbx,

As usual, I am having a problem with where to place Orbx. I recently purchased xOrganizer for XP12 to help but no joy. Can someone help me please? All seems to be okay from a flight from KEYW to KRSW however when I landed my plane was sunk down into the runway - I have spent hours trying to figure this out. I am looking for the best XP12 experience - Orbx is tops for me - however I have been trying xAmerica as well and don't evenknow if they are compatible?

    Thanks for your help!

I'm just a volunteer Beta tester and don't have any insider info on Orbx's future plans for anything, including updates to already released XP11 software.

I agree that Orbx's TE sceneries are a huge improvement compared to default X-Plane 11.  (I haven't tried to get them working in XP12.)

I have no idea what the developers need to do to make them fully compatible with XP12, but I think they would be a great addition to XP12.

As for the doom and gloom comments from some about X-Plane scenery development, I think it is OK for me to say that while I do test a lot of MSFS scenery, I still spend quite a bit of time testing XP11 and XP12 scenery.  Landmarks Brisbane City just released yesterday for both XP11 & 12 and I have been testing something else in XP11 &12 all day today!  Orbx certainly doesn't seem to have abandoned X-Plane from my POV.

According to the Navigraph flight sim survey results, there are a lot more people flying MSFS than X-Plane 11 & 12 combined, so I am not surprised to see a lot of MSFS scenery coming out.  While I agree that X-Plane 11 & 12 default scenery may benefit more from add-on scenery than MSFS default does, there is still a big demand for MSFS add-on scenery.
