ANSWERED Mesh resolution question for UK, Wales, Scotland & Australia

I have read all the manuals in great detail but since I do not know a thing about mesh resolution, what it is or what it does I need to ask a question.

 

In some manuals it says to set it to 10m, some to 5m.

 

Will it be okay if I keep mine set to 2m?  Will it hurt anything?  Will things display differently?

You may of course set your mesh to anything you wish to.

The FTX recommendation is 5m as that is the standard

setting used to build the airports.

If you set it at 2m, you may see some anomalies.

 

I have found that when using FSX Steam, the setting should

be 10m to achieve the same as 5m in FSX, thus you may have

seen two differing recommendations.

Not everyone makes it clear whether they use FSX, FSX-SE

or P3D.......

Ok, so it's best at 5m.  You mentioned anomalies, what would they be, what would I see?

For example, if you had 11s Sekiu, you would see holes in the tarmac.

I made the same mistake myself in beta testing.

I'm afraid I can't speak for most of your catalogue of products but if

you decide to set the mesh at 2m and you do see anomalies in the

terrain, please first try 5m before seeking support.

I think I may have been caught out by the 2m setting a few times - and set it back to 5m. Your recommendation of 10m for FSX/SE - would that include P3Dv2.5 as well, do you think?

Hi guys,

 

all our airport add-ons are optimized for 5m mesh resolution across all platforms. I haven't seen any evidence that FSX:SE is different in that regard from the boxed edition of FSX so please stick with 5m.
