Culley44
hi guys i was just curious on how well fsx and p3d run under higher resolutions,i found a lg 25 inch 2560x1080 for 259 usd, does higher resolution look better under fsx and p3d and is it supported? just curious what people are using as far as resolutions these days. dominique
I run 2560*1440 on a Dell 27''. I get around 30 fps in P3D. Very, very nice ....
Culley44
well the 2560x1440p are much more expensive thats why i thought i would try the 2560x1080p for 259usd i didn't think i could beat the price, it's on sale from 300, although smaller than my 27 inch,i am looking at the thin bezel, it's ips, lg and i could put another one next to it later. thanks for the input. Nick Cooper
You can use the Nvidia control panel to increase the resolution of your existing monitor, as it is presently 1920x1080, the next step up is 2560 x 1440.
dominique
This excellent site may help you to make up your mind. I don't use TrackIR so I wanted some height (actually I wanted 2560*1600 but couldn't find one) so as to see the upper part of the panel and the outside view at the same time. Ken Terry
Definitely stretch your budget and buy a 27" HD with resolution 2560 x 1440 You will enjoy the monitor for years to come. Regards Ken
wulfbindewald
An alternative would be to buy a 50 or 55 inch TV with UHD/4K. I am already using such a TV, but in fullHD 1920X1080, sitting directly in front of it without any problems and using it as a conventional monitor too. Samsung offers a 50 inch UHD/4K flat screen TV already below 750€. Hopefully before xmas the price will drop again..... I recommend to have a look in a TV shop to check the TV visual performance. I run this exact same size and resolution with an IPS panel and the image quality is amazing.
Culley44
thanks guys for the suggestions ,i already have a 50 inch hdtv if i want to fly that way, i ended up buying the 2560x1080 25 inch for 259 as my main screen,i am on a limited income so i have a strict budget,i see the 2560x1440p look amazing but this ultra wide looks really good for me for now,i had bought a 27 inch 1080p 1920x1080 but didn't like the colors,so i took it back bought the other one, when the 4k monitors drop i will definitely be going with one. i remember my first flat panel was 15 inch that i paid over 400 many years ago,so it seems strange how a 25 inch looks small. Guest M31
I run a Dell U3011 30" LCD @ 2560 x 1600, its a 16 10 ratio too that I prefer to the modern standard of 16 9, very nice monitor with powered USB hub too. You might want to consider a 4K Monitor Brett, these are 3840x2160 Resolution and prices are starting to come down for them. EDIT: I see you've mentioned 4K. GlennH
32 inch at 2560x1440 is perfect. Benq and Samsung have models. I went with the benq
Kev D
I'm weighing up a 32" model and I'm stuck between the Samsung and the Benq. My overriding concern is whether my Nvidia GForce 780 Ti 3 Gb will drive 2560 x 1600. Anyone got any views?

My own 780Ti drives that resolution 2560*1440 without much problem on a 27", FSX or P3D. Going to 32" is indeed tempting but I worry about leaving the IPS for the VA technology... Kev D
Hi Dominique, Yes, I meant 2560 x 1440. But now you have made me think about IPS v VA!! Generally VA seems OK, although they generally have a slower response time....and they are less expensive that IPS. However I think that 4 or 5ms would be fine for P3D or FSX? gordonhutchison
I'm weighing up a 32" model and I'm stuck between the Samsung and the Benq. My overriding concern is whether my Nvidia GForce 780 Ti 3 Gb will drive 2560 x 1600. Anyone got any views? I'm running the Benq BL3200PT with a GTX 780 (3Gb) and it handles P3D v2.4 with plenty bells and whistles on just fine - by that I mean I don't ever feel that the GTX 780 is holding me back in P3D, I hit my CPU limit well before the GPU runs out of grunt @ 1440p. With regards to VA vs IPS - I think VA is actually better for flight sims, VA can produce "blacker" blacks than IPS which makes night flying more realistic in blackout conditions. Regarding response time, this really doesn't matter for flight sims - unless you also play competitive online shooters then I wouldn't worry about response time - ever! I went from a Dell U2412M to the Benq and I can honestly say that I didn't notice any poorer color reproduction on the Benqs' VA panel - and going from a 24" to a 32" at same viewing distance was EPIC! Brought the virtual cockpits alive! The hi-res 32" panel was the screen I've always wanted for simming, large screen 1080p tvs just looked too pixelated to me at such close distance. Any more questions regarding the Benq I'd be happy to answer.

Düsselwings
Running a Dell 27" (2560x1440) and a second monitor (Samsung 27",HD) with a i7-4790k and GTX780 and I love it... Frames are at 30fps (RivaTuner). In Seattle, Squamish, Bella Coola and Canberra Cityscape about 20-26fps (Autogen max). I'm very satisfied... Culley44
well after buying it i ran across this one on ebay, i dont know what it would have to offer or if the panel is any good but it's the same price as the one i just bought, the thing is you get what you pay for. http://www.ebay.com/itm/QNIX-QX2710-LED-Evolution-II-Multi-TRUE10-SE-27-2560x1440-Overclockable-Monitor-/121362611435?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item1c41c67ceb
Greggy_D
Yep....I bought one of the Korean IPS panels a couple of years ago on Ebay. Even though the names on the front change, rumor has it they are LG/Apple panels on the inside. Just do your homework on the various offerings out there. Read lots of reviews. The color and image clarity is amazing on these panels and you can't beat the price.
