OpenLC EU: Adjustment suggestions for Bremen, Germany

After having installed openLC yesterday, I can now start to explore some regions I know quite well... like my place of birth, Bremen. Vector data are brilliant, but some LCs could be pulling other textures:

1. The Buergerpark is brilliant, in front of my Ultralight. But between the railway lines and the park there must be a paved area without houses, the Buergerweide.

The story of the Buergerweide is that in the 11th century Countess Emma has agreed to gift to the inhabitants of Bremen a piece of land "as big as one man can surround in one day". The farmers were happy, until she selected a man without legs. Fighting hard, he surrounded a huge territory north of the city, which then became the Buergerweide for all farmers use. To honour the disabled, he is still carved in stone in the basement of the Bremen Roland, the freedom statue of 1404 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremen_Roland .

2. The old city, surrounded by the remainders of the water fortress, must consist of a huge number of old houses, not cubic offices.

The old city was protected from destruction in WW2 by an american officer, who had visited Bremen before the war, and knew the beauty of the old town. All areas around the harbour and railway station were bombed, though, but the city remained.

3. The university, just east of the University lake, must consist of these cubic office buildings that are to be removed from the city.

I am not sure if it would be orbx who puts the landmark "falling tower" of microgravitation research dept. next to the campus... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremen_University

4. The eastern suburbs of the city should consist of small, 19th century houses as well, no office buildings, no green parks there.

Of course the missing landmark here is the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weserstadion ... just right to mark the approach for EDDW´s rwy 27.

I am sure the landmarks are not in the scope of Orbx, but hopefully the texture choice can be improved?

Hi Gerold,

Open LC Europe is unfortunately not very accurate. I have made an effort to make this clear to the orbx developers (see thread EuropeLC scenery far from reality) , but it seems that they did not like I was telling them.

So they have locked my thread and the title was changed to EuropeLC scenery far from reality (Belgium and Italy). Instead of  answering questions about the product with clear, honest and technical explanations in order to make clear towards customers what can be expected from this kind of product, the orbx management seemed to have decided that is was much more interesting to discuss my person. It is real pity because this kind of support doesn't fit the level of the products they normally put on the market. For me it really destroyed the good feeling I had about them.

But I don't think you can expect so much detail (especially landmarks) from this kind of product as you would like. When the cities are there and they look somewhat the same as in reality it would be great already.

Thanks for reporting.

Thanks for commenting, Garfield.

I am fully aware of the fact that Global is not about adding landmarks, and yes, I know that no structures smaller than 1*1 km can be depicted by OpenLC. But these "Objects" or better city quarters are much bigger than this threshold, and it should just be a simple move from "new houses & office buildings" to "19th century house" textures. Or from "houses" to "forest". At least this is how I understand landclasses  .

also the mercedes-benz factory (10 kingsize factory-buildings)in east bremen and the biggest cemetry(most of it forrest) right beside the factory are missing. instead of them are small houses located on their places. the area size is several square MILES. in the old flight1-UT there were availabel.

Thank you...
