VH-KDK
At last a chance to try out a flight in Iceland. We will fly from the island of Grimsey and head south to Akureyri. 1. Taking of from Grimsey. This island is the most northerly inhabited part of Iceland and the Arctic Circle passes through it. 2. Grimsey has a population of 86 and the majority of the coast is cliffs. 3. Heading for the mainland. 4. Entering Eyjafjorour. 5. 6. The island of Hrisey once thrived under the Herring fishing industry. Overfishing led to the decline that resulted in the last processing plant closing in 1993. 7. Grenivik. 8. Kljastrond. 9. The Vikurskard Pass. 10. Approaching Akureyri with the mountain of Sulur in the centre. 11. Starting to descend with Modhruvellir just behind the tail. 12. The town of Akureyri has an ice free harbour which makes it an important port and fishing centre. 13. The population is over 17,000 and has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. 14. Approaching Route 1 the main road around Iceland. 15. 16. Touching down at Akureyri Airport which is Northern Iceland's only International airport. 17. 18. All straight vees with minimal cropping. Hope you enjoyed looking.

Frank Schnibben
Again a very informative set with great pics Martyn! One of the lowest crime rates here ... maybe they are suffering from subarctic conditions, but obviously it's a relaxed place to live.
