VH-KDK Posted October 29, 2013 Share Posted October 29, 2013 My other simming activities tonight have been trying out the Gigant package from Simvation. A quick flight to see this incredible glider in the air. 1. Being towed by a He111. Originally the Ju 90 was used which did not have enough power and then 3 Me 110's which was fraught with danger and only had a range of 400km. 2. Used on the Eastern Front the Me 321 was not a success. 3. The Gigant could carry a load 6 times greater than the Ju52. 4. The wheels were dropped after take off. 5. The lack of suitable towing aircraft in sufficient numbers plagued the Gigant's career. 6. A second deployment to Russia also ended in failure with the gliders returning to Germany to be scrapped. 7. A crew of 3 and 130 troops could be carried. 8. Wingspan 55m and length 28.15m. All straight vees with minimal cropping. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Adam Amazing aircraft engineering ideas they had... sounds more than true. Yes they certainly came up with some futuristic and fantastic designs. Nice shots, Flying and riding in a glider in WWII was very dangerous. I cannot imagine for one minute what it must have been like for the servicemen from both sides to fly in a glider. Must have been frightening to say the least. Great set! Thank you everyone for commenting. One of these, seemed a good idea at the time contraptions.
