VH-KDK Posted October 17, 2013 Share Posted October 17, 2013 Initially classified as the AS.6 the ECM.6 was an Electronic Countermeasures version of the Gannet. 9 were converted from the AS.4 Gannet. Powered by the Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba and with contra-rotating props the Gannet was not a very quiet aircraft. These pictures are taken around the Tay estuary in Scotland. 1. Departing Leuchars. 2. Eden Estuary is in the background with St Andrews golf course above the Gannet. Stayed at the Old Course Hotel many years ago and was entertained at dinner by a huge flock of Gannets(birds) diving for fish in the North Sea, an amazing spectacle. 3. A close up of the Gannet with the radome extended. 4. Over Broughty Ferry with Dundee in the distance. 5. Two oil rigs are at the engineering works at Craigie. 6. The 2 Tay bridges through the haze. 7. Turning over the Tay at Coultra. 8. Heading inland near Longforgan. Hope you enjoy. All straight vees with minimal cropping.
