The extremely important thing to remember here is not to try to land to same way you're flying... ;D

Great comments. Think I hit a point here. Let us wait if the experienced colleagues from Oz can add constructive help.

It's a horrible disrespectful shot at we decent people downunder.  Whatever those Poms have said above remember if you're not the right way up you will lose your beer.  And in our part of the world that's a mortal sin!

Correct Ian, some 50 % of the globe might think the northern half is going the wrong way. Hope you can smile a bit reading these classical stereotypes.

And, you know, we all love Australia - real or/and virtual.

Stillwater:   the favourite Australian derogatory for Englishmen is POM.   Allegedly standing for Prisoner of Mother England, from the convict days.  Once the English lost the American colonies, they had to search for an alternative and they remembered Captain Cook's reports.  The rest is history.

Then after the war we got a surge of European migrants, amongst them more English.  As they got preferential treatment and a cheap fare they were called Ten Pound Poms.  (A pound (inherited from the POMS) was our old currency before decimal dollars and cents were introduced)

And after all Men at Work gave us that great song;  The Land Downunder.

But don't ever spill your beer, that's a capital offence.

For those from more literal countries, this is meant to be ironic, not serious.  Although the history is "true".
