girivs
I have a MBP retina and rather than dual boot using bootcamp, I ran windows 8 in parallels 8. This worked decently enough without payware upgrades but after REX and PNW, it slowed to a crawl. I installed a recent version of wine (1.5.16), and after much trial and error got FSX to run in wine. The performance is much better compared to parallels. So the logical next question is has any orbx product been known to work under wine? I know .NET4 is one of the main requirements and I have installed it in the wine environment. I could just try installing it, but I wanted to see if someone has tried it before or the developers have any suggestions to share? This way, I do not have to dual boot and still get close to native performance on my mbp.
John Venema
I use a MacBook Air for my main computer and run Parallels 8 but FSX performance is too slow to be usable, so I use a dedicated Intel PC for that. I have not installed Wine so I can't comment on whether this works. Please can you try it and report back?
