Orbx
Our next airport destination for Microsoft Flight Simulator is LICA Lamezia Terme International Airport! Located in Calabria, Italy, LICA is roughly situated near the toe of the Italian “boot” and is an airport that has gone through almost constant upgrading and modernisation since its opening in 1976. Serving both domestic and international services, the airport sees a number of low-cost services as well as seasonal flights from much of Europe. Located on the western side of the airport is the 2nd Army Aviation Regiment "Sirio" base which currently operates AB 412 helicopters that are soon to be replaced with AW169s. Great care has been taken to reflect the airport as it looks today with the extended runway and new apron parking. We have tried to capture the unique terminal design features, which have been expertly modeled with high-res textures and PBR as well as optimised for Xbox. At a glance Detailed modeling of the entire airport area Up-to-date (October 2022) layout including the new extended apron and runway extension Custom statics of AB 412 and Canadair CL-415 aircraft that operate at LICA Projected mesh groundpoly Custom GSE and clutter Animated radar Custom taxi signs and approach lighting Enjoy these first screenshots with more to come! Please note that these feature aircraft from AIG AI traffic.

ESGG Spotter
Hi! Amazing news. I see that you have not modeled the new boarding area expansion on the apron yet. Could you please add that when you release the final version? See my picture for reference. It looks like a white shed connected to the gates on google maps.
Ed Correia
We are planning to add that white tent in, to be honest, we thought it to be a temporary structure.

Thanks for the answer! It will be a nice addition of realsim since I travel to Lamezia every year. Too be honest, I thought that it was temporary tent when I travled to LICA, the first time they installed it. Since summer 2022 they have installed air conditioning, a new café and ceramic floor, making the tent a permanent "building". This means boarding is now only done from that tent. I spoke to the airport handling company about this. Apparently the expansion was done to get room for pre boarding areas required by low cost carriers Wizzair and Ryanair. Before there was not simply not enough room for it. Edited November 25, 2022 by ESGG Spotter 1
carlosqr
Maybe it can be added as optional in the configuration panel of the product in Central in case there are people not interested in adding it. I think all will depend on how nice it looks there, based on its possition it looks like it kills a bit the facade of the terminal so it would be nice to have the option to have it or not Cheers Carlos

Following your suggestion one could demand a panel for removing any structure at an airport, which is not to his liking.

I would not say that it is the nicest looking structure of an airport in the world, but it is like that in real life. Myself and probably Orbx goal is for the airport to look as realistic as it can be in the sim, modeling how the airport looks like if you fly there today.
