Rodger Pettichord
Quick question. As my eyes and brain lose acuity, my forum posts more often contain glitches I would like to correct. But I cannot find a way to edit a post once it's tacked up. Does anyone know if it's possible to edit once a post has gone public?
Ken Q
Yes Rodge, they can be. After posting and sending, there is a menu bar (three hash marks at the top right). Click on that and "edit" is one of the choices. Now I'll do it to be sure my instruction is right. Ken Edited July 29, 2022 by Ken Q
Ken Q
Actually it's three dots. The options are "Report," "Share," and "Edit." I just edited my previous post to add a missing parentheses, and edited this one to tell you about it. Trouble is, now I have no excuses 1
Rodger Pettichord
Whoa, I spoke too soon. Seems to be a time limit involved. I get the three-dot edit option on these current posts but not on earlier posts. Any idea what the time limit is?

Nick Cooper
Hello, just a little bit shorter than you need it to be. Very few, if any, forums allow posts to be edited after a short period to correct spelling mistakes or typos. This one gives the author an hour before the editor is locked. The hour is measured from the time of the last activity, not the posting of the first word. 1 1
Rodger Pettichord
Thank you, Nick, for the definitive word. Now all I have to do is be more careful in proofreading for an hour. 1 2
Bassman
Sort of related, but within time constraints mentioned is it possible to totally delete a post rather than editing with blanks. Many forums have this function.
Nick Cooper
Hello Don, I don't know of any forums that allow a post to be deleted once it has been started and it can't be done here either. That is one of the reasons why there are forum moderators. It is of course still possible to delete all of the content 1

Not only does he keep things on an even keel, he has been patiently helpful when I've mucked up a post and asked his help in setting things straight. 2
