Rodger Pettichord
Hi all. I recently received a fan letter from a person who had read my novels and enjoyed them. Their very kind letter really made my day. Which leads us to this week's meaningless topic. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: What moment of praise has meant most to you? 1
gumbypickett
The fact that I was only born with two heads instead of three. Oh and I did the washing up once. cheers Gumby
boetie
My dad was a carpenter. I remember taking home a teapot stand I had made in woodwork at school and my dad saying what a perfect job I had done. A brief moment I have never forgotten. Cheers Graeme 4

BradB
Never got any praise from my father , but my mother was very kind and supportive . I learned at a early age to pat myself on the back and that has worked well thru my entire life . 2

Nick Cooper
Hello, is that you can't remember a moment of praise or that you can remember that there were no moments of praise?

John York
I think we have a difference of interpretation here. You can like the result but not necessarily the person who performed it.

Landon I most heartily agree, Landon!! It is a wonderful change from the Vietnam period when servicemen and veterans were reviled. Having my service recognized with gratitude is a great feeling. Ken You know Ken, every time I meet a Vietnam Veteran, I take time to have a discussion with them. I want them to know, that Veterans from my generation get the appreciation that we get now because of the utter horrible treatment that they received. I want them to know that there are Veterans out there now, my peers, that understand that, and that they, the Vietnam Vets, have our utmost respect. It is very important to me. When the last German soldiers returned from Afghanistan, there was nobody there at the airport to greet them, not even our minister of defence. How shameful is that! 1 2

Maybe one day those German Veterans will get their due respect. I for one appreciate any countries Veterans that I have deployed to the same theater with. They are like bothers and sisters to me 3

Landon I still remember being called a baby killer when I mustered out in '71. Still proud that I served and never thought any less of those that did not. 2 2
