Located in San Fernando Valley, California Van Nuys airport is the largest and busiest general aviation airport in the world, with about 230,000 aircraft movements annually. The perfect home base for your General Aviation flight adventures. This is the latest from the talented developer, Matteo Veneziani, whose other works include KBUR Burbank, LIEO Olbia (both for MSFS & P3D) and YBCG Gold Coast (P3D). A bit of history - originally named Metropolitan Airport, VNY was built in 1928. It was a place for dreamers and pioneering pilots to try out their new flying machines. The airport was also a important military base of the World War II. Back to present day KVNY, it often used for television, music and film videos. It is also the home of many FBOs, all recreated with full details in the scenery. Using the latest MSFS SDK, all textures come with PBR as standard and high resolution artwork has been used throughout. All new unique GSE and static aircraft types have been added and careful attention has been given to the details, like the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant recreated in all its beauty as well as the Van Nuys Airport Observation Area, The Park VNY, Los Angeles Fire Dept. and Airtel Plaza Hotel. Particular attention has been given to animation features, in fact here you can find rotating AC fans, vents, custom wig-wag, beacon light etc.. all helping to create a unique immersion! sammyflyboy Posted June 20, 2021 Share Posted June 20, 2021 My love of aviation was born from Van Nuys Airport... at age 6 I'd stand in the observation area and watch planes takeoff and land, and would later look down at the observation area while taking off from 16L on my first solo. Absolutely can't wait! Looks just about perfect. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in the announcement, but if anyone hasn't watched the film One Six Right, it is the best film about aviation I have ever watched.
