Orbx LOWI scenery alignment

Recommended Posts

Hi

I think LOWI scenery and rwy's are not aligned correctly.

Here is sceenshot from Prepar3dV5 , PMDG 737 NGxu .
Trying to land rwy 08. By ND it is directly ahead and plane is aligned but by outside view you can see it is left... :/

And buy Orbx client I have all up to date...:

Hello,

I am not familiar with these things but I do not think that the ILS at LOWI will do an autoland, as I believe that it is offset.

I understand that the idea is to take you there and then you land yourself, or so I have read.

What you are seeing is correct.

Nick is correct Lowi has an offset ILS on this runway runway. See the charts available here -

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=lowi+charts

Your track is showing 075 and LOWI runway 8 is 79 deg so you can see its correctly orientated.

https://skyvector.com/airport/LOWI/Innsbruck-Airport

Your best bet is an RNAV approach if your  aircraft has it available, RNAVZ-8 or something. Even then the final landing is manual.

The ILS is offset because if it weren't you'd hit or be close to hitting Innsbruck valley mountain slopes.

Its aligned with the valley and not the runway.

Hope this helps

Hi,

To clarify: It's not an ILS approach. It's an LOC DME approach. LOWI is very special and you need a certification for landing there. You can check the charts and procedures published here: https://eaip.austrocontrol.at/lo/210326/ad_2_lowi.htm

You will see, that there is no ILS approach. The GP is just for support but due to the steep valley it's not reliable. And if you really want to have fun, you can try the visual circling to runway 08.
