Trees on tarmac at EGGP

Recommended Posts

Hello,

this airport is supported by its developers, Digital Design.

As a first troubleshooting step, try removing everything else from your Community folder.

The easiest way is to rename the folder to CommunityX and creating a new Community

folder.

Move the airport into that, start MSFS and see if the trees are still there.

I have done this and yet do see trees in odd places, but you will have to ask them.

Hi Nick

I tried your suggestion, ensuring that the only content in the Community folder was the EGGP scenery, and still got the trees. I submitted a request to Digital Design yesterday, but haven't had any response at all yet. I'm beginning to doubt the support capabilities of Digital Design. Certainly, having trees occupying the tarmac of an airport for which I paid money is not acceptable, and I would therefore request a refund.

Hello,

have you yet tried an approach to Digital Design themselves?

I think it is a fact that the various updates to MSFS do have an effect on existing products

and it could be something that they are aware of and working on.

I put the link into my reply above for you.

I've just submitted a second topic to their forum, the first was submitted somehow to their Russian forum, which is indicative of their poor website. I don't think I'll be buying any more products from this bunch, and if I don't get a reply to my recent topic on their forum, I'll request a refund again.

Attached is my screenshot I just took at the airport.  No trees.  I don't know what you've downloaded and installed into your MSFS, even addons that you've deleted, but I'd be laying a wager that the cause of your problem is outside the control of Digital Designs.  I would recommend that you delete the Content.xml file from your LocalCache folder, that has been sown to help others with unexplained problems such as yours.

Another thing I've seen which can cause this sort of problem is when MSFS switches off Bing Data without telling you.

Worth a look at the options menu:

General

Data

and check that Bing data and photogrammetry are on.

Edit: just tried it and can confirm that this is the problem. With Bing data off I see the trees.

All the best,

John

The only Content.xml file that I can find is in AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator, so no LocalCache folder. Is this the file that you refer to?

Hi there,

Check my previous post - I think the problem is that MSFS has switched off Bing Data without telling you (it has an annoying habit of doing this).

For future reference the file John referred to (or a link to it) is in

Appdata\local\packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

or it is on my system at least - I think it's normal!

All the best,

John

Thanks John, it was indeed the Bing Data that had mysteriously been switched off. Once enabled, those trees disappeared.
