RichardSchu Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 Happy New Year! I purchased and GB South and started the download/installation process from Orbx Central (v12). It has downloaded 27.37 of 27.37 GB, extracted 32590 of 32659 files, but has stalled at Converted 0 of 11880. Can you please advise? Richard
Jon Clarke Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 Exit Orbx Central. Reboot PC. Open Orbx Central and see if it continues with the installation.
RichardSchu Posted January 3, 2021 Author Posted January 3, 2021 Thanks for your reply John, I did what you suggested and the installation has moved one notch, but stalled at the Finalising and Cleaning up - Configuring stage. I exited Orbx Central, re booted, opened Orbx Central, twice, and it the result is as described.
RichardSchu Posted January 3, 2021 Author Posted January 3, 2021 Further to my previous comment: Because my C:\ drive does not have enough capacity, I am attempting to install Orbx on a second, internal 500GB SSD drive, The lack of storage was flagged by up during my first attempt by Orbx Central; the structure of the second drive is as follows: G:/Orbx Orbx Library Orbx Temp Orbx Backup The folder structure was configured accordingly in the configuration panel for the Downloader and Libraries per attached screenshots. There are no other files on the disk. During the downloading phase the "Orbx Temp" folder was populated with zipped files, these have now been cleared and there are no files in the Backup. The Orbx folder contains an "xp11" folder, in it is the "TrueEarth Great Britain South" folder, and within it a "Custom Scenery" which contains the following folders: Orbx_A_GB_South_TrueEarth_Airports Orbx_A_GB_South_TrueEarth_Custom Orbx_A_GB_South_TrueEarth_Overlay Orbx_A_GB_South_TrueEarth_Orthos The total number of files in the Custom Scenery folder is 32.612 files in 167 folders and occupy 32,636,551,168 bytes. I understand that a successful installation will contain 132GB. My X-Plane files are in C:\X-Plane 11. No files have been downloaded into C:\ during the install operation. The antimalware was uninstalled prior to attempting the installation. The Windows 10 v20H build 19042.685 is plain vanilla with no tweaks or optimisations. I have installed the scenery libraries from RC Simulations which work (and I expect the Orbx installation to organise itself accordingly in the scenery_packs.ini file which I have attached for your perusal). I'd be happy to set up a remote session using Anydesk at your convenience if it suits you. scenery_packs.ini
Jon Clarke Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 I will not be able to use a remote facility so we need to stick to the forum format for a resolution. When you are offered the location to install the addon, I am assuming you have specified the E/Orbx Library? Please confirm. Does Orbx Central state that TEGB South is installed. Obviously there is something wrong because TEGB South doesn't appear in your scenery_packs How long is the Finalizing and Clean up notice appearing for. It can take a while and also depends on the disk drive speed of read/write. Have you tried the Verify Files option yet and if so does it do anything? I am inclined to suggest a reinstall process but need to know if Orbx Central is saying it is installed so that you can use Orbx Central to uninstaIl. Then Clear the Temp folder Untick the Backups option on this occasion. Reboot PC I then I suggest that you open Orbx Central and scroll down on the Settings/downloader section to the Concurrency and Conversions section. Ensure that the Concurrency setting is aligned to your type of disk drive, i.e. SSD or HDD Under Conversions set to Medium Choose E/Orbx Library as the chosen location drive for installation. RichardSchu Posted January 4, 2021 Author Posted January 4, 2021 Once again, thanks for your patience and support John: Yes, I have specified the E/Orbx Library. It contains the folders as per my previous comment. No, Orbx Central does not state that TEGB South is installed. I have waited for over 18 hours for the Finalising & Clean up operation to complete. As a matter of fact, I re-started the whole operation and it is now stalled at the COnverting stage with 0/11931 after 14 hours. Where do I find the Verify FiIes option? Will it work if the installation has not completed? Orbx Central does not give an indication that anything has been installed. As you can see from my screenshot, concurrency has been selected as SSD. I will set conversions to Moderate CPU use The installation location is set to E:\Orbx\Orbx Library and it indicates 30.4GB I have re-started the installation, the only change is the conversion to Moderate; the Download queue has gone through the Preparing installation and scanned 31918 files, and it is now downloading 25.16GB and extracting 11931 files. I'll keep you posted. Richard
RichardSchu Posted January 4, 2021 Author Posted January 4, 2021 FYI John, there has been a change, the installation has been queued. The Libratries appear to be installed. See pics for "My Products" Can you shed some light and point me in the direction of the use of Scenery Animation Manager? If this succeeds, are there any other configuration I need to perform on the scenery_packs.ini file at all? Or will it all "just work" and I'll be inmersed in the "happy clients" world? Will let you know what happens. Richard
Jon Clarke Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 SAM, Scenery Animation Manager, is to allow moving jetways in those airports made by Orbx that indicate the content of moving jetways in the product description on Orbx direct. The reason that TEGB South was/is queued is because you had/have set up a few downloads at once. It is preferable in your case to do one at a time through to completion of the installation rather than selecting more than one. You would then Clear the Temp folder and proceed with the next download. A bit late now but I hope it goes well. Regarding scenery_packs configuration, I strongly suggest that you allow TEGB South to install and immediately check it is working before doing anything else. This addon was the reason of your post and it is essential we determine that there is or is not an issue with the addon. Orbx Central should place the addons correctly but attach a copy when you finish and I will check it out.
RichardSchu Posted January 4, 2021 Author Posted January 4, 2021 Cheers Jon, I only purchased TEGB South. I am not aware of having triggered more than one download, unless of course stopping Orbx Central and rebooting triggers "more downloads" to be added.. I have only purchase TEGB. How do I go about checking if TEGB is working? DO I start X-Plane and see if it looks different? Is there a more "technical" way besides checking "My Products"? We'll give it a day to see what happens Richard
Jon Clarke Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I saw your pic of the installed Orbxlibs and thought it was pic of a "just installed" OrbxLibs. Therefore assumed, wrongly, that it was why TEGB South was queued. The reason to Clear the Temp folder is important in case there was an outstanding incomplete download pending that would try and download as soon as you opened Orbx Central. Regarding how to know if TEGB South is working. You will immediately see a difference between default scenery and Orbx ortho which is actual real photo scenery.
RichardSchu Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 Hi Jon, I'm afraid we still have not sorted this out. The file verification indicates that 8 files have failed to extract. See pics please. Any suggestions? Best Richard
Jon Clarke Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 This is clearly an installation problem and needs to be looked at by the Orbx Central team support. Please attach your Orbx central log file. How to do that is illustrated in the attached pic. @Nick Cooper please transfer this to the Orbx Central support forum as I cannot determine why the installation efforts are not working correctly.
RichardSchu Posted January 6, 2021 Author Posted January 6, 2021 Cheers Jon, here is the central.log file for your perusal. I'm looking forward to the solution. Richard central 20210106 2020.zip
RichardSchu Posted January 7, 2021 Author Posted January 7, 2021 Cheers Jon, here is the central.log file for your perusal. I'm looking forward to the solution. Richard
RichardSchu Posted January 7, 2021 Author Posted January 7, 2021 Howdy Jon I wonder if Nick Cooper got the fil and has had a chance to look into the issue? Best Richard
Nick Cooper Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Hello, there seem to be files missing from both Orbx central and possibly Windows as well. Can you try a complete removal of Orbx Central: Uninstall it using the Windows control panel Delete C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\orbx-central-updater Delete C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Orbx\Central Delete your Windows TMP\Orbx Then make sure that all the prerequisites are in place. https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/185472-prerequisite-software-without-which-orbx-central-will-not-work/ Make sure also that both your temporary files location and the destination have enough free space. Make sure that any backup that you might have made is temporarily moved out of its folder. Then reinstall Orbx Central and try verify files again.
RichardSchu Posted January 8, 2021 Author Posted January 8, 2021 Hi Nick Thanks for getting back to me 1) ORB X Central is not listed on the Control Panel's Programs and Features. I guess it has not installed. (see pi) Orb X Central runs when I "download" the product from my account. 2) I've deleted C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\Orbx-central-updater C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Orbx\Central Windows TMP\Orbx folders does not exist. I have removed all TMP files 3) C++ requisites are OK 4) I've redirected the TEMP and TMP folders (environment variables) to another drive 5) Orbx backups deleted, as well as Orbx tem, Library files. 6) I downloaded and installed Orbx from (Central - Orbx (orbxdirect.com)). 7) I get an extraction error after starting the download (see pic) I will keep you posted and appreciate your patience. Richard
Nick Cooper Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 Hello, can you try this: Go to the Orbx Central Downloader page and click on Clear for temporary files. If you made a backup, temporarily move it out of its folder. Run Verify files again.
RichardSchu Posted January 9, 2021 Author Posted January 9, 2021 Hi Nick I got a missing scenery files message from X-Plane after veryfing and running X-Plane. I re-installed X-Plane's scenery files Best Richard
Nick Cooper Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 Hello, X pane 11 is not really my area of expertise but I do see the option to "Install missing scenery". Also, if the original error message related to Orbx scenery, then installing X Plane 11's scenery files will have no effect. Do you still have the X plane 11 log that might cover the error message?
RichardSchu Posted January 9, 2021 Author Posted January 9, 2021 Hi Nick, All is honky dory as we say on this side of the world. Many thanks for your assistance. It is in situations like these that you secure your clients. I will be purchasing the other packages soon. ByBy Keep safe Richard
