sidfadc
Never suffered from this before, I bought 3 airports last night and they are downloading at a painfully slow 500kb/s! I have a 350MB connection with download speeds capable of 40MB/s. Do you have issues? Thanks
Nick Cooper
Hello, usually not but then my maximum speed is only 4.5MBps. In a nutshell, it can be a long way from the CDN to the customer and the bottleneck can be anywhere. If you want to check the server status, here is the link. sidfadc
Thanks for the reply Nick, I understand these issues can be personal and environmental. Last night I downloaded something from Steam to test my connection and yep, was downloading at approx 38MB/s. So I think my connection isn't the issue - you definitely have some kind of bottle neck. Maybe increased load on the Orbx CDN due to sales??
Nick Cooper
Hello, it could be, yes. I confess that these problems are above my pay grade.
KDalley
Yes I'm having extremly slow download speed from Orbx at the moment too - checked my internet download speed on a speed checker = >200Mb/sec. From Orbx 90-220Kb/sec. Checked Orbx server status = says no issues - Methinks this is not correct. Based in the UK. Ken
Nick Cooper
Hello, I have sent an e mail to the Orbx Central developers asking them for the answer. It is of course just after midnight in Australia, so the reply may not be immediate. For the record, I am also seeing a download speed of around 150kbps. Nick Cooper
Hello, Sunday morning in Europe and I am pleased to be able to tell you that a fault has been found and corrected. Apologies to you all for the inconvenience caused.
KDalley
... a little faster this morning +/- 30Mb/s ... thanks Nick ... enjoy your Sunday. Ken
Donka
I've just installed the GB North update for XP11 and saw the same with plenty of connection interrupted messages so appears the issue remains. I also saw the same on Friday when I was updating GB Central. 500Mbps connection here and all other downloads and tests are without issue.
gordonhutchison
I'm still getting brutally slow download speeds in the UK (Virgin Fibre 350Mbps line) with lots of connection interrupts. Trying to download 6 MSFS addons I purchased yesterday - but cant!!! Clearly something is still wrong with the CDN servers. My connection is good:
Nick Cooper
Hello, I have sent another e mail asking about this for you.
gordonhutchison
I've managed to download my purchases by using my VPN - connecting to a server in Germany seemed to yield best speeds/connection stability. Definitely some 'weirdness' happening on the Orbx CDN servers at the moment.
Nick Cooper
Hello, I have a new reply and there is still a problem but it is being worked on at the moment. Once again, apologies for the inconvenience.
BSA
Seems I not alone with this issue in the UK - I'm downloading True earth GB South (only because I must, so that EGLC works). Its painful at the moment, I'd rather be eating my own earwax than put up with these provided speeds.
Stephan737
Just bought 7 products for MSFS. All downloads are dead slow at about 250KB/s on a 50.000 connection. All other online services work fine and have been shut down to give the entire bandwith to Orbx central. The cause therefore must be at the Orbx servers which all are on a green state. A restart of Orbx Central caused the download speed to go up to 6MB/s but thi sonly lasted for a couple of seconds. Now its has dropped down again. Orbx offers great products and good managament possibility via Orbx central. However all of that is useless it I can't access the data. Please finally do sth about this. I had the same problem years ago while downloading for P3D and XPlane. Manual downloads are no option for me as I want to use what Orbx central offers. Mostly these download speed problems end up being bottlenecks in the pipelines between the Orbx server and your computer, which Orbx has no control over. The bottlenecks can be anything from a corrupted file server, an overloaded internet junction somewhere along the line, or even hardware failures leading to congestion. The experience of most users is that these bottlenecks generally resolve themselves in a day or so. If the Orbx servers were the problem we'd be seeing multiple posts but as far as I can tell yours is the only post at the moment.
