SoFly Weather Preset Pro problem.

Hi folks,

I bought and downloaded  SoFly Weather Preset Pro today (5f8ee343b373e). It doesn't seem to be working correctly. I have tried four short flights from Liverpool to Manchester all with different weather conditions, one was heavy rain, two were snowy scenarios and finally Autumn sunshine. The Autumn sunshine seemed fine but the other three were unflyable, as soon as i took off my TBM 930 was going crazy, it was like i was a puppet on a string with my aircraft acting like a bucking bronco. Something is not right, its definitely not turbulance. Any ideas what might be up? Thanks in advance.

I cannot comment on the effects regarding if it is the addon, but tell me what flight model you are using? FSX, Legacy or Modern? Try Modern if you are not using it at present.

I could not fly any plane other than the C172 until i discovered MSFS had gone to FSX flight model. I changed to Modern and get a well controllable plane

@SoFly

I just tested Heavy Rain with the TBN and the Cessna bizjet and agree that both are uncontrollable with Heavy Rain. I checked and there was no discernible wind force in the Weather settings

Delete the gusts section of the wind settings, that causes the turbulence.

The other thing I do is pull the wind speed back until the gusts settings go away.

You can save your adjusted settings as a Custom WPP preset, or if you click the single save icon it'll overwrite the current settings. If you still want turbulence and wind speed, try setting the gust direction closer to the main wind direction, as well as reducing the wind speed if required. Many of the presets seem to have wind gusts at 90 degrees to the main wind, that's how you get excessive weather vaning and in nature such weather is rare outside full on storms.

The Heavy Rain preset has the wind settings far too high. You can get heavy rain without the effects of it being a hurricane in real life. I think the default WPP Heavy Rain settings need looking at.

I do not use the SoFly app, but after reading the above I'm asking myself, what's the point using this app rather than using the default MSFS weather presets, which haven't caused me any problems so far. I usually will modify the wind direction though.

Thanks for the tag and feedback. We're working on an update over the next few days to improve this based on feedback, plus adding in more options to give users some flexibility.

The presets add 40 new presets to the default ones that go beyond what the simulator can provide. We're aware of a handful of issues with 1 or 2 of the presets, but the other 35+ aren't causing some users issues.

We're working on improvements and changes based on feedback, so expect to see if soon in your Orbx account.

Thanks!

Hello,

I just picked up the Presets last week. I'm still fairly new to the Orbx delivery model. Would your updates be delivered through Central? Would I need to do anything special to trigger the update?

Thanks!

Updates will be via Orbx Central and an update is indicated in Orbx Central. In the Orbx Central settings/Auto Updates Options you have a choice of auto install or you do the install after seeing the notification
