Trees and buildings on VTBS runways and tarmacs

Recommended Posts

I'm running P3Dv5, tons of Orbx products, including Vector for P3Dv5, and I'm seeing the same anomalies (trees on taxiways at VTBS, wandering jetways at EGCC).

I installed V5 HF2 as a first installation and found that Vector makes the basic sceneries look very strange.
With active Vector for V5 there are trees everywhere and the sceneries look as if Vector is the top layer over the sceneries.

Turning it off will improve it, but this is certainly not the intention.
Unfortunately, some Orbx entries in the scenery library are above all other entries, although I use the same ones as in V4.5. No matter which Insertion Points I use (just for testing) the entries remain on top of the scenery library.

Are there any hints how I could change this?

Orbx Entries above all other Scenerie entries

Hello,

you have two problems.

The first is that you are trying to use Vector for P3D v4 in P3D v5.

You will need to stop doing that and use the P3D v5 version of Vector instead.

Secondly, Orbx Central places the Vector scenery libraries under Africa and you will need to let it do that.

As they are, at the top, they are causing the anomalies.

Nick, thank you for your hints, I have checked them and could find the error.

If you select the V5 option in Central, you will of course only see the things that are suitable for V5.
Vector for V5 can be recognized easy by the missing height module in the configuration tool.

My mistake was that I installed the Base Pack first, but then the open LCs, HD Buildings, Trees and finally Vector.

But exactly this led to the display problems with entries at wrong places in the scenery library.

So I uninstalled everything except Base, then install again Vector and so on.

Meanwhile I have installed and checked all my Orbx stuff - everything looks normal.

Victoria Falls looks nice.

Nick told some weeks ago AfricaLC was just released that with LC you don´t get a better view.

So far it is ok for me.

I don´t use the Africa Mesh and Photoreal Option for Africa.

The Scenery Bibliothek looks now similar to the Bibliothek in P3Dv4.5.

Yes, it looks better, I probably have a problem because of the mesh ...

I have the same problem as above at VTSP (Phuket), trees in taxiways. With Vector disabled the problem goes away. I use nothing in Asia except Orbx Global base and vector and only V5 versions. I have checked insertion points, all is correct.

Hello,

I took a look at VTSP and indeed, it is covered in trees.

I had previously looked at VTBS and it is also covered in trees.

I looked at EGCC and it looked perfectly fine.

However, I took a look at a couple of other randomly chosen default airports and they look exactly how they should.

I cannot answer "I have this issue too", or "I'm having the same issue!" when there are numerous problems being reported.

Hello,

on the specific subject of VTSP, indeed the default version is covered in trees when Orbx Vector is added.

It may be hard to accept that some of the default airports may not be perfect, so to test the theory, I downloaded

an FSX freeware addon and recompiled it for P3D v5.

This is how it looks, Orbx Vector still active.

No trees and the airport background is working.

My apologies. I have tried to fly out of VTBS, VVTS and just looked at VTSP which all of those have trees, buildings and Orbx terrain as using Global base as well. There isn't an airport boarder or permeter, it looks like the airport tarmac area has just been placed on top of terrain. I've tired using the OC to organise my scenery library also tried the classic uninstall then reinstall. I hope that helps.

Many thanks, Rob

Hello,

the mention of FSX was just a red herring.

The problem with the airports seems to be that whoever made them did not compile them correctly.

Here is the default VTBS, once again Vector is active.

Here is the same airport but after using the Airport Design Editor to add an airport background,

a flatten to exclude autogen and an exclude to remove the default airport.

Vector remains active.

You can have the files for that one, they are originals made by me.

It looks like most of the VTxx airports are the same.

Nick, I want to try out your files for VTBS but I can not find the bgl files in my P3Dv5.2 folders so I don't know where to put your files.   Where do I put these two files you created so I can see if that solves my tree & building problem at this airport?

Thanks

Trying different airports to fly in and out of across the globe

This is VVTS and I'm sure there will be others.

Reading the above entries really did not clarify how to fix the issue(s).

Am I overlooking anything and is there a fix for this?

Thanks.
