panzer2181 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Operating system: Windows 10 Simulator: P3D 4.5 + hotfix Issue: I have just switched to ORBX Central. Nifty program so far, and I really appreciate the migration option for the ORBX scenery as it will really give a 2nd life to my main P3D SSD... My question is as follows: I had to several manual modifications to certain files to ensure compatibility with some 3rd party add-on airports, such as EDDF (Aerosoft), KLAX (FSDT), CYYC (FSSimstudios), turning off a conflicting BGL files. When migrating the files, will I have to re-do this entire exercise? I am seeing that ORBX Central is scanning files after the migration... Thanks for any assistance. Cheers!
Guest Josh Koz Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 The migration process uses a product manifest to detect what files are needed to copy over to the library during a migration process. If the files have been renamed or modified in some way, Orbx Central won't recognise them won't copy them across. It will instead scan the files that have been copied, determine what's missing, then download these missing files. This ensures that the a migrated scenery functions like a freshly installed scenery. However this does mean if you've manually changes to the scenery files, these will need to be performed again.

Good thing I kept a log on what to do if I were to do a clean install... ohhh the time we spend on our flim sim hobby to tweak things... Would be a good idea to sticky this post for other users that will have to do the same. It would be a bummer to load up a flight only to realize we need to go back and mod files to have the scenery compatible.
Nick Cooper Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Hello, if instead of renaming files, you remove them to a folder of your choice, when reinstalling or migrating you can then copy all the modified files back into the folder(s) that they came from and once highlighted, delete them all again in one go.
