Going on to the Table

Stillwater

The next daytrip from Cairns leads us up the Barron river...

... following the gorge to Barron Falls. Once again I have missed the virtual rain season.

Kuranda city, a touristic highlight at the beginning of the Tableland.

And below us is Leila´s airstrip, an artistic highlight of OZx-land.

We go on southwards over the Atherton Tableland...

... to make a stop for lunch at Mareeba. The choice of the plane was already done when this flight plan was made.

Here we go again...

... towards Atherton, ...

... then back to the coast over Lake Tinaroo, ...

... and, uuuh, that´s what they call "rainforest", isn´t it?

But soon we can drop down back into Cairns...

Adventurous flying into the back country and back into civilization!

Thank you Bermuda. I am sure the Cairns people will like you call it civilization up there. Do not ask the Sydneysiders...:D!

Fantastic shots and weather depiction Gerold , some of your best for 2018 . :):)

Cheers

Mmmmh, what a compliment John! I was glad my AS16 was working again, now with 4.4 - and I took those clouds just as a slight challenge.

Great flight Gerold, the shots of the scenery were super.

Thank you John. It really is a pleasure to fly over this scenery and see it moving.

Hey Gerold. Such a nice variety in such a short distance. And I loved that final capture. Thanks!

Thanks Rodger. I think the Tablelands go up to about 1500 ft, together with the mountains it gives a significant weather change from the tropical coast.

Merci Richard. p3dv4 does a nice job (already), showing how far we could go with the ancient FSX base.

all are very pleasant and give the plan to fly bythere  So great at present - imagine what it would be with australia v2 B)

(... and I will try to look for this small Leila's aistrip ... )

You make the point Jean Marc: I am also putting some money and lots of time aside for AUv2... We all will have to discover the country again!

Leila´s is an OZx field, so you need to have their packs & libs installed. Here is my flight plan if you miss it...:

That´s the way I fly as well: Go to a region and explore. Have fun, Alexander!

You get around a lot in OZ lately!

Thank you Lars. It is the season for me to be down under - not just the grey sky & rain like we have it here...

Very interesting to see how the landscape gets more arid and brown as you travel away from the coast towards the hinterland.

... and this goes very quick here in Cairns, probably due to the mountains.
