Obviously we simmers have an alternative: Take a suitable plane from YAYE...

... and seconds after takeoff the first rock can be seen.

After turning back and climbing to 4500 ft this is the "outbound" leg, for those tourists sitting on the left.

Then following Kata Tjuta road...

Thank you John. Imagine those happy few who can afford such a flight IRL.

A top class tour around the rocks Gerold.

I did a flight in  Cessna 207 VH-UAA back in '83, worst flight I ever had because of the turbulence.

We were on a bus tour and later that evening one of the party said how ill they had felt and then virtually everybody else owned up to feeling the same.

Uh, that is a kind of trip report I would not expect - espeacially not from that area. You inspire me to a little request:

Hey Gerold. Loved the tour and loved not feeling the effects of the tour. Thanks!

Thanks Rodger. Indeed flying in your own office chair has an advantage...

Beaut shots mate - if you go there on the ground spend an hour at The Rock and a day in the Olgas ;)

Thank you TT. Will do so... timing is organized nearly as per your indication B)!

A very interesting, I might say awesome tour of the Ayers Rock region. I wasn't aware that there are mandatory routes for scenic flying, too. Now imagine you're a pilot in Ayers Rock and you have to do the same flight thrice a day. Let's all be thankful that we are "only" sim pilots.

You are right Lars. These companies charge you a fortune, but one does not know how much ends with the pilot. Who is doing the same taxi driver job each day...
