John Venema
Hello all, I know many of you have been waiting on news of the P3D version of TE GB South. Here are some pre-beta shots from the dev team. Note that we are not yet in beta testing and this is an early build, so there will be warts in these shots. Also note this is vanilla P3D with just HDR on, from a dev's PC. No PTA or other addons in use . There will be countless more preview shots coming very soon! DylanM
I don't know what you consider "warts" but this is just wonderful stuff John - can't wait!
NeilG
It’s looking good. I have the x plane version and that’s lovely and I’m not sure whether to continue investing in the x plane version or wait to start to buy the P3D. The big problem is, of course, space. I would love to have all the Orbx regions redone in this way but even if you did do that the hard drives would not have enough space to store them. I guess that this ideal future must await another hard drive revolution in which we have moved on to humdreds or even thousands of terabytes. Well done anyway. You undoubtably lead the feild in flight sim scenery.

Matthijs
I can't help but after the X-Plane version this feels like a 'small' step back. However, great news for P3D users of course!

bcrawley57
These are very promising shots, and I can't see any warts. A general question, many of the smaller airfields have been enhanced in ORBX England to a very nice standard. What will happen to those once True Earth is installed over them, will we lose them. I am thinking of EGNE Gamston in Central area as an example?
John Venema
Those airports will be merged into TEGB. FTX Central should take care of it for you. The important thing is to not remove the FTX EU England region.
NeilG
I’ve obviously missed something, does the new scenery use FTX England then - sorry if the question is stupid, I’ve long suffered from Nob’ead syndrome.

John Venema
Don't worry, we are working on automation tech to have P3D catch up with all the XP stuff. Within a year we will be doing concurrent releases of TE regions across three platforms if my plan succeeds. One thing I can tell you about P3Dv4.4 vs XP11 - the ortho textures look a lot clearer in P3D for some reason. As I said, each sim has its merits and I use all three to suit what sort of flying I want to do or VR experience I want to have.
flavio58
With all the love I feel for Orbx and P3D friends, I'm sorry to say it but nothing to do with X-Plane...
kevinfirth
Looks pretty good, you can tell the quality of the colour correction that's been done on the base imagery clearly, even with the low res images. Going to be lots to like about this I'm sure...
wolfko
Finally being able to compare a scenery in X-Plane with the same scenery in P3d for me it is crystal clear which sim the winner is. I have not said, which sim I mean and I dearly ask you fellows not to start another A vs B thread.

Cool, shall we understand that TE GB is going to be released for AFS2 soon? 4 hours ago, John Venema said: One thing I can tell you about P3Dv4.4 vs XP11 - the ortho textures look a lot clearer in P3D for some reason Ok but the issue with P3D is that textures used to get blurry if you fly fast + autogen popping up while in XP11 it is always sharp and autogen appears gradually... This being said, let's see how this one looks with v4.
carlosqr
Hi How would this merge with current England? Should England be removed to install this new version? In terms of payment, how would it work? Do we have to buy it as a brand new product or would be discounted for having bought England?
John Venema
FTX Central will take care of the merge. You have to pay for this product, there is no upgrade since it is completely different technology and covers a different geographical boundary. tdavart
This is exciting. Am a bit surprised we need to install the old FTX EU England in order for the airports to be upgraded.

Me too, as I dont have ftx eu england, Id have to buy the entire landclass region just to upgrade the airports? The assets already exist, there's no or very little work involved in creating them, so it seems a little incongruous to be expected to pay a full region price for them? You're purchasing TE GB South for P3DV4. If the product doesn't contain airports then you still get exactly what you pay for. If a series of upgraded airports for the price of EU England is good value, buy it, if not, just enjoy the TE technology, which in fact is worth many times the $50 price point if you compare it to other scenery options. John Venema
Whilst JD above has a point, we will actually be including the upgraded airports from FTX EU England and Wales in the P3D version of TrueEarth GB South. What I meant about FTX Central taking care of things was that if you have FTX EU England or Wales installed, we are looking into ways that FTXC can manage the disabling of those parts of the land class regions that are replaced by TE. I will purchase TE-UK all volumes because it is simply likely to be the best scenery available. Cheers K

joefremont
Very interesting, I wonder how pre-"true earth" ORBX airports will integrate into the new "True Earth" scenery. With the current sale I was thinking of getting Southampton and one or two other UK airports but if these new packages will make them obsolete I will skip it. John Venema
TrueEarth GB South for P3D won’t contain payware quality airports like EGHI etc. The region-upgraded airports from FTX England and FTX Wales will be added.
Paul Golding
I need to get around to actually installing some the ORBX stuff I've bought and at least have a look at it soon. Once TEGB is here, I've a feeling I won't be flying anywhere else for a long time!

BrianV
I look forward to see the forthcoming screenshots. I think it will completely transform FTX England, Wales, Scotland though I will still be missing seasons (I think). I wonder though what will happen to trees in this case? Will they still display according to the chosen season in P3D?
The Merowinger
I nearly don't dare to ask: is it possible and realistic to use TEGB South this year already, maybe to the holidays? Kai
John Venema
I hope so, but let’s be realistic about it. I don’t want to rush it out if it’s not up to standard. January is a certainty however.
