TrueEarth Great Britain South for X-Plane 11 is coming in hot!

Recommended Posts

Earlier this year, we announced that we would be developing TrueEarth Great Britain for X-Plane 11. Our X-Plane team headed up by specialist Tony Wroblewski has been working tirelessly to bring you the first title in the series, TrueEarth Great Britain South. TrueEarth Great Britain for X-Plane is series of three with GB Central and GB North to follow in the coming months.

UK3YEnr.thumb.jpg.76da7e18ee9a5adc19247030703346d1.jpg

We always intended to release TrueEarth Great Britain as three separate regions, just like we did for the original UK FTX Regions. However, we cannot release them based on geographical boundaries as with did for the FTX regions, because the only correct way to distribute mesh based sceneries for X-Plane is using 1-degree tiles. For this reason we have split GB into South, Central and North as you can see in the map. We will also split TrueEarth GB for P3Dv4 and AFS2 in the same way to keep the product line consistent between simulators.

GB South covers a whopping 42,000 square miles (107,349 km2) and covers Southern England and Wales. We have developed new autogen technology especially for X-Plane which allows for region specific houses to be placed accurately to ensure maximum immersion.

What really makes TrueEarth Great Britain unique, are the Points of Interest. We have hundreds of iconic UK landmarks from Tintagel to Cardiff City Stadium, from the Brighton Pier up to Buckingham Palace in London – all based on 2018 data - You won’t find a more comprehensive and up-to-date British flying experience anywhere!

Features:

  • 42,000 square miles (107349 km2) of hand corrected, crisp, color-matched aerial imagery
  • New autogen technology developed specially for X-Plane 11, allowing thousands of realistic looking UK-themed houses to be placed at a realistic height with minimal impact on performance
  • 130 million trees at the correct height and location
  • 13.2 million buildings at the correct height and location
  • VFR landmarks such as masts, windfarms, churches, power-lines, and lighthouses are all accurately placed.
  • Hundreds of custom-modelled 3D POIs
  • Hand-placed and custom modelled landmarks placed throughout the scenery such as bridges, skyscrapers, castles, piers, and monuments – this is especially noticeable in city areas such as London and along the coast.
  • Sharp and detailed 10-meter mesh brings out stunning detail in natural features such as hills and beaches
  • Superb watermasking along the entire coastline
  • Accurate road and rail network blended into the aerial imagery with moving left-hand drive traffic.
  • Control Panel option to use photoreal major roads/motorways or synthetic X-Plane ones.
  • Summer season only with full night-lighting supported

We have also added a new built-in decompression feature in FTX Central to greatly reduce the download size (approx 35GB instead of 90GB) ensuring an efficient installation process.

In addition to these features, users will get free service packs for life as well as more POI models in future updates.

TrueEarth GB South will be available to purchase from OrbxDirect this month for AUD $54.95 (approx. USD $39.55 / €33.95 / £30.60)

Please note that there is no cross-grade discount from the landclass-based FTX England, Wales or Scotland regions.

A few more things to mention:

  • These screenshots are from the Beta2 build. We’ll be sharing many more shots from Beta3 in the coming days which has even more 3D POI models, texturing and further improvements
  • All of the Orbx FTX England and Wales airports are in the process of being ported to XP11 right now, and EGHI Southampton, EGFF Cardiff and EGKA Shoreham will be released very soon after TrueEarth GB South is out - we will demo those at Cosford. All the Orbx UK airports will be available for XP11 before the end of the year.
  • The P3Dv4 version of TrueEarth GB South is about 60% complete and we’re aiming for release by the end of the year.
  • After Great Britain, we begin development of TrueEarth regions in the USA from early 2019, beginning with Pacific Northwest!

OH WOW!! ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! ...Please take my money right now!!!!

My area falls into the "central" category though I'll buy South on day one. Cannot wait to clear up the custom scenery folder of all the small: landmarks, city scapes ETC, which "may" be slowing things down in favour of this new masterpiece! If it runs like Meigs or other Xplane products it'll be a dream come true for this flight simmer. Fingers crossed central follows soon after :)

With thanks

Just incredible. Orbx is really on the good way. I bought a lot at orbx the last years when using p3d. Now xplane is my favourite thanks to their great job in VR. (p3d is not friendly for VR, using the mouse is awful). It is good that Orbx makes some works for xplane step by step. And this True earth series seems to be what i was waiting for.

Great job again.

This IS NUTS! Insanity!

One more thing. If these snaps don't convince users what sim they should be paying attention to, nothing will.

Not quite sure it works that way. It’s by virtue that they’ve release it first for xplane that allows you to say that, I’m pretty sure the P3D version will be just as impressive.

1: does this include the Channel Islands?

2: will you be doing a FSX Steam edition?

1. Nope - we acquired the Earth Simulations stuff so that will be worked on separately

2. No - this will be released for 64 bit platforms only

I’m glad to hear someone has picked up the ES files. I bought nearly all as I live in the Channel Islands. I felt a bit ripped off when they went under. So when I had to reload my FSX I couldn’t get to my files. I can’t even buy any disk version either. Shame as there’s no reasonable scenery for us. Even one working on a new Trislander for FSX SE (see attached)

OMG!!!!  That is utterly fantastic!!  Watching the video and also viewing the screenshots I can only hope that my computer running a G-Force GTX760 can somehow show True Earth  somewhere as good as those screenshots and video.

You chaps at ORBX have certainly worked hard to produce a brilliant scenery package such as this that will be enjoyed by countless of simmers.

Just one question, you stated that you will be porting over airports for XP11, will I have to purchase say Southampton and other airports that I have for FSX?  Just curious.

Regards

Nigel.

Excuse me asking the boring questions but I had good performance in Holland on P3Dv4, what is the performance like on this?  Over the years I ve purchased a number of city scapes that have looked wonderful until performance have reduced performance to a slide show.

I fly in VR...frames are poor atm in XP even with my new 2080Ti.  I look forward for FS2 version as I know that engine offers better fluidity!

Whats the new graphics card like? I have the 1080Ti

XP 11 is a completely different rendering engine. You will certainly notice the difference. Textures are textures, but it's the lifelike effect that will be missing.

This looks awesome. I look forward to trying it also in P3D. As there is only one season, are there plans to add an autumn/winter season as a future expansion, or is this not realistic given the huge amount of data required for such a product? Also, will it be able to co-exist, or switch, with the FTX regions or is it one or the other?

I am assuming with this one product I will be able to do away with all of the following in my Custom Scenery folder (I am making an assumption that this product contains the mesh, ortho and overlays all in one??), note I will be waiting for the GB Central also in a few months time :D

SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX/
SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/world-models-0.8.0/
